    Lothar,

I don't know of the freeware programs, but if you are running a PC, Microsoft Paint will do the job fine. All you need to do is:

    - Open the file in Paint
    - Go to the "IMAGE" tab
    - Select "STRETCH/SKEW"
    - In the STRETCH field, type in the percent size you require for both North to South and East to West parameters
-for example, you want the image to be 75% of its original size, type 75 in both boxes

At this point, the image has shrunk.

If you would like to see the actually dimensions of the image, you can do this two ways:

    - for a general idea, simply click "PRINT PREVIEW" under the "FILE" tab
    - for dimensions in inches, under the "IMAGE" tab select "ATTRIBUTES" and select either inches, pixels, or centimeters, and it will give you the proper measurements.

I use a program called Imagewalker...I prefer the "old" version to the one currently being offered. The current version is kind of set up to interface with Flickr, a photo hosting site. If you use that service you might want the newest version. You can get the old (preferred version) here:

I swear by Irfanview. It is simple to use, reliable and free.
    Looking for Carl Willey items.
  • The free program that I have used is The Gimp. Of course, the pricey program is Photoshop.

What brand scanner are you using?

HP comes with the program HP Photo & Imaging.

I just 'drag' pics to "my pics" - then when I click on the icon PH P&I, I can resize it there and then it's ready to be hosted.

I use Easy Thumbnails, which you can get at fookes.com. It works well for me.
