Anyone interested in talking about a Mexican 1849 8 Real San Luis Potosi Mint?

If you are let me know, cause I'm trying to ascertain the true rariity of the coin.
Thanks
Mike

Is the PI the San Luis Potosi mint mark?

When I just acquired it, I did some background research on it and came up with the following: The 1849 Pi was made with three assayer initial pairs. One of the pairs (MC) was included in one of the hoards of high grade 8Rs discovered a couple decades ago. That skews the average condition for that particular assayer. The one with the PS assayer is normally a low grade coin with examples above VF being (according to Dunigan) NON-EXISTENT. The AM initials - I have no information about, but Dunigan calls it rare.

    Which one do you have?
  • I am refering to the AM assayer.
