sigh. i feel bad for this person in a few years when he cannot
get a fraction of what he paid.
years? how about today, tommorrow, and forever and ever after.

The buyer may have been confused about the going rates for PCGS FS 70 sets and NGC ones. Anyway, the seller must still be smiling. What a score for him!

regardless if they were NGC or PCGS, the buyer will be sad in a few years when these lose a good portion of their "value".

    raufus,

you are fully understanding the nonsense the First Strike really
    is i hope?

    more marketing at work.

the mint does not even know which coins were struck first once
they got into the storage area.. and then put into boxes for shipping.

but if that little paper insert makes people happy who am i to argue.

    fc-

Indeed I am. In fact, I can't believe that PCGS still uses this term when the Mint has specifically addressed the issue and noted how utterly misleading and meaningless it is. As you point out, order of shipping has no relationship to order struck. The Mint also points out that because dies are changed some later strikes might be the first on a given set of dies, etc.

I have to admit that I do get this label on Moderns that I sell as the pretty insert must indeed make people happy as they pay a sometimes substantial premium for them. Who am I to argue with them indeed!

Why are you guys talking about FS ??

That doesn't have anything to do with this auction.

the paper insert makes a big diff in price. the ones listed do not
    have the FS designation.

raufus was thinking the buyer got confused.

correct me if i am wrong, but those very same coins can get a FS
designation if sent in properly, etc, yada yada.

is this not one of the same coins, but with FS?

The paper insert gets you more registry points.
  • Congrats to the seller and new owner! image
