Anyone recognize this "Crown Baggage Check"?

That's all it was marked on the 2x2 I picked up at coin club. I have a hunch it's darkside/greyside, but not sure. Any ideas? It is 1 3/8" across.

I have not seen anything like it in my greyside travels.

    Neat find.

When dinosaurs roamed the earth, and I was a young man, every train and bus station had an area where you could store ("check") your baggage temporarily. Instead of the paper tickets used nowadays, you received a metal tag with a number matching the compartment in which your item was stored.

From the pictures it is clear that the tags were struck without any numbers, and the numbers were later punched in individually. It probably dates to the first half of the 20th Century, when they were quite common.

...and the crown itself is unmistakably the British imperial headgear. Ever notice the kings and queens (well, at least Liz-2) go headless on the domestic coinage but wear the ermine and
[this very] crown on the colonial coinage?
I never pay too much for my tokens...but every now and then I may buy them too soon.

Thanks all - Is there a British token book similar to Rulau's for US tokens? It is similar in style to a few US checks from the early 1900's - 1920's, but that's just a guess.
