Is this clip real?
Don't look right to me. The design doesn't show any weakening at the edge of the clip. Maybe some subtle Blakesly effect. The edge of the clip looks cut after the fact.

Be interesting to see what Fred has to say?
Why would someone slab a $2 coin?
San Diego, CA
slight metal flow, and cut-n-tear
marks on the edge of the clip.
It looks fine to me.
What holder is it in?
I think the rev close up made it look like the metal is smeared above the surface but I'm assuming it's the angle of the photo through the holder making it look that way.
I'll go with it being real.

Check the link in mgoodm3's sigline.
<< <i>I too see the Blakesly, but do not like the clip appreance. The letters typically soften as they approach the edge of the clip.... perhaps that is on a harder metal than copper? And what about those vertical lines up the clipped rim? I don't normally see those. >>

That's the appearance I was expecting. Fred seemed comfortable with it. I would like to hear from seanq.
As for the vertical lines on the edge of the clip, remember that blanks are punched from the copper strip so vertical lines are something that can occur on a clip.
