A neat item for the Lincoln collectors--campaign ferrotype

I dont know much about these other than what I read on the internet. I though it was kind of cool though and wanted to share.

    Very cool. Waht can you tell us about it? Is that an actual photo of Lincoln? How rare are they?

  • Very neat!..... These things are tough to find WITHOUT a BIG hole..... Notice the start of the hole at the top? A bigger hole is usually in this spot for putting a campaign ribbon thru. Even in this condition, these go for many 100s image

    I guess these are fairly rare and fragile as this one shows. there are many different types although I wasnt able to find this variety in the Heritage archives.

    I am not sure what exactly a ferrotype is but I do believe it is a picture of Lincoln, sans beard, and his running mate Hannibal Hamlin.

    Curly, I can bring it to the party next month.
