Just bought this coin...

Anyone know what this small circular indentation is where the arrow points to?
Also about what grade do you think this coin is and would it get slabbed or bodybagged?
Thanks everyone.

I don't know what the circular indentation is but this is one sweet coin. I am bad at grading but I'd say this coins is better than XF. I don' think it would be body bagged unless there was some tooling, AT or other funkiness to the coin. Looks good to me but it is always better to see coins like this in hand. However this is a pretty damn nice image of this coin though.

Very nice example, Meiji! XF45 - AU50, in my opinion. The indentation could be a dropped 'dot' stuck in the die from the previous coin. The only sure way is to look at the metal flow inside of it. If it was "tooled", there should be striations visible under high magnification, as well as it would have "raised" edge. Struck-through wouldn't have any raised area at the rim of the indentation.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately I dont have high powered microscope, so I'll try to get a loop from a friend of mine. I'm abit confused on the raised edge part. Would it be a pronounced raised edge around the dot that extents above the surface of the coin? Because to me without a loop, it looks like someone took a round stamp and stamped it, like a counterstamp. Well I was guessing XF, so what do you think about the toning? AT or NT?

    Thanks

Toning looks fine, to me. And unless the image is not showing something, I don't think you'll have any problems getting it slabbed. The "raised edge" i mentioned would only be seen with high magnification. It would indicate post-mint damage (punch, for example).

    Lovely coin image
I would loved to get myself one with the countermark of George III's bust on it for my British coin collection.

There's a period on the reverse in between IND and REX. The indentation on the obverse could be a clash mark from that period.
