1878 VAM 198!! MS?? Just rediscovered this in my collection!

Well, I was transferring my coin database from MS works to Office, and I found that I have a potentially expensive coin. I believe I paid less than the $60 price tag on the slab, and I bought it unattributed. What got me really excited was what the Cherrypicker's guide stated about the VAM 198. "Vams 115 and 198 are both ultra-rare in MS." This coin is a bit tricky though. It kind of looks cleaned, but not really...I'm not really sure. Here are the pictures. Oh, and please tell me if my pictures are ok...I actually like these a lot.

I wouldn't call it ultra-rare in MS, but it is a good coin, usually found AU. Always nice to cherrypick ones own collection. I'd bust it out of the 2x2 and reshoot the picture. You have some motion on the reverse, too.

After you take the pics be very careful putting it back into a 2x2. The rims look like they have taken
a few stapler hits. Sure does not looked cleaned to me with those nice pics.

Oh, and thanks, I thought the pictures came out pretty dang well, considering that I took them in my kitchen on the stove top under the fluorescent lights =p

Very nice find, looks original and no problems. I think PCGS may call it AU however.

I cannot see any evidence of hairlines, but it looks to bright to match the rough trip it has been on. I am thinking it has some rub as well. I would call this coin a market Grade AU.

Too many contact marks on face and fields both obverse and reverse. AU58 or just maybe on a good
day MS60-61. Oh, what the heck, call it a MS60. I've seen worse in MS slabs.
