I was at the show today - Friday. I was looking for several three cent nickels and AU Barbers. I didn't buy anything. Someone called Bill's Coins near Charlotte had a self-described XF40 1913 half. The band around liberty was not fully delineated so I might have thought it a 35 but the rest of the coin did look 40. He said he would take greysheet 40 "ask" for it ($480) but I passed. He also had a self-described AU 1901-S half which he would take less than the $1200 asking price. It had no mint luster and I thought it had been cleaned. He told me that he didn't slab coins because you never knew what the TPG would do. I would add that you never know what the seller has done either.

I did see one delaer who had a slew of 3rd tier TPG slabs and some that looked like he might have done them in his garage. I guess this is to be expected with eBay's restrictions.

I saw lots of Morgan dollars and commerative halves. One dealer had a set of commeratives in MS 65 for "only" $59K. I asked why there were so many silver commeratives at the show and the dealer told me it was because they are hot.

Most of the older coins were well worn and the newer ones were shiney. I didn't find what I was looking for but that doesn't mean there weren't some treasures to be had.

I might have missed some treasures myself as it was busy and it was hard to see everything.
