1959-2008 Lincoln Memorial Cents

It seems the Lincoln Memorial Cent is coming to a close as 2008 will be the last of year of production.
Does anyone here think the Lincoln Memorial Cent will go up in collector value in 2009?

Thanks,

Chris

The average Lincoln cent will be worth 1 cent. There are gazillions of them.

Nothing's been announced yet, although I recall some push for a new reverse design after the '09 issues.

Congress will step in and mandate that the memorial reverse be kept for the next 50 years due to tourism dollars coming into Washington D.C. (to see the Lincoln Memorial). This also occurred with the Virginia delegation convincing Congress to keep Monticello on the nickel as the state would be hurt if Monticello were removed. Sad, but true. image

The 1982 zinc cents are worth 1.7 cents...don't know what the 1982 copper through 1959 cents are worth (in copper)?

I think there are likely to be some big surprises when people
finally decide they want to have the entire set of Lincolns and
go out looking for the memorials. None are rare and none are
scarce even in gem, but some of the gems are far scarcer than
people realize. Some are scarcer than the F or VF key dates that
people pay big money for. Try finding a nice gem well struck '68
without carbon spots. These list for a few bucks but it's a lot
easier to find a nice VG '14-D!!

If these do explode in price be very careful because there are
substantial numbers of every date put back. ...Not as many as
the wheaties in many cases but substantial numbers nonetheless.

There are many millions of sets that end at 1959 or at 1964. A lot
of these are going to be brought up to date. If people want the
varieties there could be some major changes in pricing structure
    in them.

Yes! Due to production cost increases, the Mint is out-sourcing manufacture of Lincoln Cents to China.
