With all the talk of SGC 92's lately......

What do you guys think about this card?

Unbelievable centering, but will the print problems on near his eye and forehead keep it out of a PSA 9 holder?

Comments

  • I certainly dont claim to be an expert on grading, but I would think that it would NOT get a PSA 9 due to those defects.

  • Nope, not a 9 but it does look good though. Amazing centering for sure.
  • I believe if it had a shot at a 9, Mr Wentz would have done it himself already....

I'd say it has a shot..... this clemens below made it in a 9 holder with a pretty bad print defect. "by the way not my card passadinamudslide posted it in a thread the other day.

if the clemens did it, the 52 definitely has a shot. nice card.

    Thanks,

  • I think SGC hit it on the head with the grade of 8.5. Probably good enough to be a 9 but not quite a 9 due to print spots. That is why I love the half grade.

    Sweet card though..........

  • SGC's half point system is their way of eliminating the individual card graders "Eye Appeal" judgement call which must be made by a PSA grader when deciding weather a beautiful card such as this is best suited in a PSA8 or PSA 9 holder. I'm not saying that one is better than the other but the PSA grader defintely has more pressure on him to make a judgement call and with the vintage market that PSA 9 grade is significant to the cards value as we all know.

I agree. as a side note that big old pink dot on the upper left of the clemens is so distracting
you almost miss that big one on his neck too.
