I can't answer your question, because it depends on how you define "scam."

As for the coin, on the obverse, if you look above the ear you will see a flat area, and on the reverse the turkey has very flat breast feathers, which is the typical of the weak strike found on most "O" Mint Morgans. (IMO the weak strike alone is enough to limit the coin to an MS64 grade.) Now look at the surfaces, are they clear or are the pics lacking? IMO the poor quality pics are hiding flaws; otherwise, you would see a small amount of chatter. Additionally, the color looks strange, again it could be the pics or the coin may have been cleaned. Bottom line, buy the coin and not the holder.

The little ding at 9 o'clock on the obverse won't help the grade. Why do sellers think its always necessary to give us a history of the coin? Do they really think a Blind Freddie is going to accidently stumble upon their listing and purchase it with no further info needed?

  • I think the seller is for real, and I think they are trying to get someone to buy some expensive plastic.

Because the coin in there is not worth the asking price, in my opinion.

Normally, a third world slab, giant red shouting, not one but two "L@@Ks," and the HUGE ASTRONIOMICALLY SKY-HIGH TRENDS would turn me off to this coin, but since he mentioned that Morgan was a pupil of Wyon, I think I'll have to buy it.
