Do you think PCGS is keeping "track" of high grade coins to avoid paying out of pocket for

I have started to wonder if PCGS is not giving coins their deserved grades because they might have to buy them back in the future under spot/grade gaurantee reviews... It would make a whole lot of sense why NGC is giving out about twice as many PF70 coins when compared to PCGS. I bet, I just bet if PCGS did away with their gaurantee and commitment to buy back coins, they would grade coins a lot higher......

Think back to the 2006 W ASE's. Why in the world would they wait a year to decide to grade them MS70? Maybe because they were waiting to make sure the majority were not spotting and wouldn't have to deal with buy backs..

That is quality. Grading something higher than they would want to buy it for themself is not quality. It's why non guaranteed slabbers are worthless opinions.

If you pay me $30 I'll call your coin a 70 with no guarantee.

Since NGC also has a grade guarantee, your theory does not make sense. Also, PCGS had made it a policy not to grade ASE's MS70 for years before the 2006-W was issued. They started this year because the burnished 'W' ASE have much better quality than the non 'W' bullion ASE's.

I would guess that they probably give those coins a greater scrutiny and maybe more consensus opinion than they would the same widget in lower grade. I would imagine that a 1880-o morgan would have to be solid for the grade to get a 65.

You are all right, it didn't make much sense. I wasn't trying to be a conspiracy theorist, I just thought about it for a second.
