Look~I accidently made a light rainbow...
I bought this 5 pfennig about a year ago and had it in a paper flip along with a 20 pfennig that I bought at the same time. I completely forgot about them until I was clearing out some coins to list on eBay. The 20 pfennig has some solder on it that I am guessing is what caused the toning as none of the other coins I bought that day stored in paper flips have any color at all. The caption in my writing says 1889-F 5 pfennig, bright AU. 1888-D 20 pfennig, VF with solder mounts, $1.00 08-16-06. The top pics were with a flash, the lower pics were without a flash. Any thoughts or ideas on what caused this? If it was the solder like I think how come the 20 Pfennig wasn't affected the same way?
Thanks,
Rick
Edited to add: Now where's a nice Churchill I can try this on? Teletrade for $600 bucks... Geez!

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Freedom is a well armed lamb contesting that vote. Benjamin Franklin - 1779
