Well, I am evacuating in a few minutes. Might be "offline" for a few days. UPDATED Wedne

Hey everyone,
As most of you know, I moved to Southern California a few weeks ago. I have been watching the wild fires burn for the past couple of days with sadness. I have also been watching them get closer and closer. Yesterday they were a couple of miles away. Well, I woke up about a half hour ago to an strange red glow coming through the window. Opened the door and there it was. Right down the hill from my home. The pictures below were just taken a few minutes ago from my porch and one of the bedrooms. The area burning is (was) a very nice sub-division. It is gone now. I could see them being evacuated. There's a road between my home and the fire and we are told that evacuation is voluntary only for us, as they have firefighters on this side of the road trying to stop it. However, I am not taking any chances, especially since I can feel the heat from that fire. I am taking my son and getting the hell out of here. Apparently this just kicked up at about 4 AM. I live right at the foothills of the biggest peaks of the Santa Ana mountains and am subjected to some terribly strong Santa Ana Winds. It is 6:22 AM here.
For the true numismatists out there, I have all numismatic properties in the car and ready to go. Unfortunately, I will not be able to save all of my coin books, which filled a U-Haul. I pray, and ask you to pray, that they can keep this fire from my home. Also pray for the thousands who have already lost their homes in the past couple of days. I went from a frozen winter wasteland (Michigan) to a fiery inferno. Maybe I will give Missouri a try the next time....

I certainly will pray that this only is a very close call.
Wishing you well.
Hang on, brother. We're thinking of you.
I have been worried about Bear, but completely forgot about you being down there. I pray that you will be all right...and if you and your boy need a place to stay for a while, you are welcome up here. Call me if you get a chance.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Glad to hear that you have the common sense to keep safe. It appears too many have stayed at home. The coin books, although a tragic loss, are nothing compared to keeping you and your son safe. Keep us informed. If there's anything we can do to help, let us know.

My cousins in the hills NE of San diego are in the same boat right now, really unbelievable.
Good luck Mr. Numisma! You are doing the right thing by getting out when you can. Too many wait 'till they can't.
Come to Southeast Ga. if you want to try something different. All we have are gnats, hot summers, and Lord Marcovan.
Take care, we'll be praying for you!

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
You can always try Las Vegas, we don't have forest fires it just feels like we do

if you have any property insurance issues later drop a PM
Being in the situation I am (single guy, no kids) I would stay and do everything I could to help defend my home. With a kid involved however, you have done the safe thing... and guaranteed that you will at least be able to move on.
Best wishes, and good luck.
Just wondering if this really happened in your case
"One improvement since the Cedar Fire is a "reverse 911" system, which has dialed 262,000 home phones with fire updates and evacuation orders, according to Harold Tuck, the county's deputy chief administrative officer"

Be safe.
best wishes to you and your family
First priority is to stay safe. Wow.

We're cancelling the Sierra fishing trip this year since the fishing tackle is all up at my brother's house in Crestline - can't get in to get it, the roads are closed. That house is in the fires' path as well.
Hang in there.

Another reason I am glad I live in Washington State.......if you can handle rain (Western side of the state), it's pretty nice.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
