Let's Pray For Our California Friends

So far so good for Nick Cascio, Craig Harries and Mike DeFalco. Fires are north, south and east of Nick, but heavy winds. Fires are north of Craig with much smoke but no fire thus far. Mike relays the fires are within 10 miles of him.

Please keep them and all of our California friends in your prayers.

    Amen to that. I have family in Escondido and San Marcos. They have fires to the north and south.

    I think those guys are fine. Mark Chrans at his location may be the most vulnerable to the fires.

    It should also be noted that this is the smack-middle of the fire season for California. Windy, warm and dry weather only adds to fire danger.

    These fires look to be much worse than normal and there are so many of them all at the same time. The Santa Ana winds are strong and will last until Wed. The winds, the incredible dryness and the steep hills make the fires very hard to fight. My thoughts are with all those in southern California who are affected by the fires.

    Fires all around me but I'm in an area that isn't likely going to be threateded. Just went to dinner a mile from home and the mall parking lot is full of evacuees---little bit surreal. I'll be watching the news coverage most of the night so if anyone has family or friends they're wondering about feel free to pm me and I'll watch for news on that location. --Jerry

    Having lived through Katrina and its aftermath, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of those in Southern California.

    Yes many people need our prayers tonight. I drove northbound on the 5 from Del Mar this morning, going through very heavy smoke. There are multiple fires burning in San Diego, one in Irvine, Lake Arrowhead and Malibu.
