<< <i>He used to be so underrated. Now, he's vastly overrated. How many times did he K in the series? >>
342!
He had a horrible year but started coming on strong towards the end of the season. He was "ok" in the ALDS and the first couple of ALCS games but should have been replaced with possibly Trot Nixon at some point.
Lots of what ifs to think about this winter.
<< <i>He K'd 12 times in the 7 games and batted .148. It is a very small sample size (27 at bats) so I wouldn't read too much into it. >>
you can actually read a ton into it, he flat out stunk it up.
I think Wedge's refusal to veer from the path that got them there is partially what contributed to their demise.
<< <i>As an Indians fan I can flat out state that he sucked royally for the ALCS. I kept wanting Wedge to yank him and stick Nixon in.

why wasn't Nixon playing in Game 7? Nobody better on either team to play right field in Fenway last night. My wife suggested "he must've hurt his back"

No you can't...if you want to go around making moronic assumptions about a player based on 27 at bats, go ahead, all it does is prove how little you know about baseball.
He got into a cold streak, they happen in baseball...his just happened to come at a bad time.

Yes, actually you can. Only a moron would make the assumption that just because he had 27 at bats that thats a predictor of a future outcome. What if he NEVER makes it to the postseason again? Then you are looking at his ENTIRE body of work in that series (27 at bats or not), and based on that he stunk up the joint. You've got to be careful when you make blanket statements without considering future consequences, most of the time it comes back to bite you in the a**
I know you must think that you are SO much smarter than everybody who posts here, and the sad part is that you TRULY believe it and i think thats what helps you get through your miserable life, but it's not even remotely true. Anyone can start a pissing match, its easy, you should take a breath before you type and let your brain disconnect from your fingers, it might make you come off a little better.

No, a reasonable person would see 27 at bats as a tiny sample size and not make any sort of assumption about Hafner as a player based on such a ridiculously small sample size. Oh wait, you are probably of the mindset that Arod is an October choker because had a similar stretch run of poor play.

It's not a matter of being smarter, but it's a matter of looking at the numbers objectively. It's ok to be afraid of new thought processes, but the facts are there. Let me guess, do you still think batting average is a good way to determine a hitter's worth? RBI? Runs scored?
