No comment about Byrd's HGH Confession?

If it truly was for his personal health and well being (as he mentions), why (a) hide it until now and (b) why has he stopped?

The doctor's prescription? Who cares, there are plenty of doctors who, for the right money, prescribe anything.

    whatever it is. it was just really bad timing for this to come out. why not wait one more day?

    you no darn well the nfl would of waited till after the superbowl!

    this stuff isnt uncommon to get a prescription for if your over 35 from what i hear. its legal as far as i no from a doctor.

    I have to wonder if it was on the up and up like he says it was, why not disclose it after he stopped taking it?

    Because it's no one's business. If you took Viagra would you go around telling everyone, "Hey, by the way, did you know I have to take a drug because I can't get it up?!"?

    bc he cheated just like everyone else.. which i could care less.. but byrd made money pitched well for the braves back then i think it was in those years?

    but media will give him a pass bc he is not mcgwire sosa or bonds! total bs to me!

    well i did not no that! if thats true then i dont blame him. but then again i couldnt care who takes what. if so many are getting busted why care?

    I believe the SF paper came out with this story. I don't think MLB had anything to do with it, they waited until after tonights game to talk to Byrd. I think Byrd felt he needed to respond today to try to avoid this being a distraction from tonights game.

    Uhm, a baseball player taking HGH is no one's business?

    So then you are ok with any and every baseball player taking steroids and HGH? Hey it's not our business, right?

    How is it being negative? Simply asking for context here.

    If it was Bonds who came out and admitted to taking HGH, with a doctor's prescription, for a medical ailment, we'd be hearing how big a deal it is, and how we should mind our own business?

    "Byrd, available out of the bullpen for Game 7, also spoke before a horde of reporters, stressing that he never took any drug that wasn't prescribed to him.

    "I have a reputation, I speak at different places, I speak to kids, I speak to churches," Byrd said. "I do not want the fans in Cleveland -- I do not want honest, caring people -- to think that I cheated. Because I didn't. That is very important to me. I do understand there are going to be people around who, no matter what you say, are going to take a negative viewpoint. But I say with complete confidence that I have never taken anything apart from a prescription."

    Earlier in the day, Byrd told FOXSports.com that three doctors have diagnosed him as suffering from a deficiency of adult-growth hormone. He also claimed to have been diagnosed with a tumor on his pituitary gland at the base of his brain in Spring Training of this year.

    Byrd told FOXSports that he no longer uses HGH. In his session with reporters, though, he was noncommittal when asked if he has stopped taking the drugs.

    "That's a private matter right now with me," he said. "I do still have a pituitary issue. I don't know exactly what that means. I'm still learning about that. I will have to get tested for a while now. And that changes a lot of things for me. I don't know what the future holds for me."

    I guess we shall see what develops.

    It does seem odd that he ordered $25k worth of the stuff the week before it was banned by MLB.

    We will just have to see how this plays out.

    I wouldn't worry about it, when someone has lost an argument and they know it then name calling is usually the only thing
    they can offer in return. This is a classic example.

    If it was banned in your workplace, you might want to be upfront about it to avoid this very situation.

    No, it's kind of conveniently disappeared after it was "leaked" on the day of Game 7. Maybe that's because it had the desired effect?
