Change is bad....

Lately I have been getting very annoyed searching on eBay. They have to stop experimenting with the site and leave it at one spot.

This new search is confusing and I hate the new homepage look.

Maybe this is why eBay's stock went down the past couple of days? Maybe?

Just my little rant...

I think they released earnings and lost $900M last quarter or something like that.

    I hate ebay!

    meg sucks lol
  • How do they exactly lose $900M? I mean all they do is host a site and collect money from sales.

    What am I missing here?
Move along folks.......Nothing to see here.

They paid $4billion or something like that for Skype. Even the outgoing CEO of Skype said that eBay overpaid. They (eBay) took a big write down on the value of Skype on their books which accounts for the loss.

It's accounting (aka "fun with numbers").
  • Ahh, so now they are trying to hide their profits. Nice!!

I think Yahoo auctions failed recently and the site was removed. Don't quote me on that though. image

Pretty sure that nothing is in the works for such a thing in the forseeable future...
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Yeah, it was definitley paperwork that caused the losses. I would be willing to guess that their "Profit" from actual ebay business was well in to the millions
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Competition is a GOOD thing and I would welcome anyone to take on eBay and knock them down a few pegs. Yahoo was hailed as the savior, but they unceremoniously exited the business months ago after they built it... but most did not come. Sellers did, they are the ones who usually have the greatest and most persistent beef with eBay and their ever increasing fees... but the buyers never followed as many had hoped. Now people are looking to Google, and I guess they would be best positioned to do so, but I never heard any official word from them regarding their intentions.

As of now, eBay can do as they please and while some of us will adjust our selling and/or buying habits accordingly... the vast majority of us will continue to line their pockets. What other choice do we have?

Still, the incredibly poor new search function is one of the most glaring examples of eBay changing things apparently for no other reason than changing things... damned be the users. Will they listen... hey it COULD happen.

    Snorto~
  • Google at one time did plan to start an auction service, but have since said they feel the online auction is no longer a viable growth option for them and backed off those plans.
  • Hey, let's all go in together and start one ourselves...
  • every change that FEEbay makes slows down the site and makes it harder to 1. list items, 2, search for items. and they charge you more for it.

    sadly its a necessary evil.
