BIG THANKS TO MOSAIC!!!!

I posted awile back that I needed a starter lot of 2006 A&G to build a set since I recently finished this years. Frank PMs me and tells me he has a bunch he will send me, that I just need to cover the postage. Well the package got here, and it was like 3 boxes worth of everything!!! What a great gesture from a great guy!!! Thanks so much Frank!! I love this place!!

I dunno about 3 boxes worth.... maybe a couple hobby boxes and a bunch of extra minis, heh. They were sitting here taking up space. eBay is a hassle. I hate just throwing things away. I was actually glad to see your post--sending unwanted cards to a good home is a good feeling. I've enjoyed my own 2006 A&G set in a binder for a while now. I hope you complete your set ASAP so you can enjoy it too.

Which makes me wonder. What does everyone else do with the boxes and boxes of unwanted cards that pile up? Garbage? eBay? Pray someone posts a "I need cards" post?

I like in a 1 bdrm apt with my g/f, and she's a school teacher, so we have ZERO free space. Even so, if we did have a house, I think I'd go insane stockpiling "stuff." Ironic, considering I collect cards (Nolan Ryan and A&G almost exclusively).

  • I do the same thing--I hope and pray someone posts a want list, just so I can send off the stuff--selling raw on Ebay is too much of a hassle...Now if I could only stop buying packs just for the sake of ripping...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

He's a great guy, sent me a stack of 2007s for me to finish my set too.

Good luck with '06. I'm going to try my hand at it when I finish up '07...still need 200+ minis however. Then maybe I'll have '06 finished by the time '08 hits the market.

Mosaic has never sent me a thing. Nothing. Ever. Until/unless that changes, I am of the opinion that he is not a nice person at all. image
  • CHB: I accept your "challenge." PM Sent. *grin*

I just tried to get rid of some unwanted Goudeys in an effort to reduce some of the stockpile. I got back more in return than I sent out!!! Sound familiar rp?image
  • I sure do, I couldn't let you send them for nothing!! image

I received your PM—threatening the well-being of my pets only confirms my earlier statement/opinion of you. * image *
  • You have it all wrong. I said I was going to send YOU one of MY pets. My g/f keeps bringing home cute rodents (really!). Classroom pets, my foot!

    Frank,
You could save on postage by just giving your stuff to me (I'm in Lansing) image

For that matter, if anyone is looking to get rid of some of your junk, I'm trying to finish a bunch of those junk sets.

Want list can be found here: My set needs list

I do hereby publicly amend my above statement & tell you all that mosaic is indeed a great man image Despite the fact that I was only joking before & never expected a thing, I received in the mail today a great box of cards. I'll try to get a pic up tomorrow, no time tonight, but wanted to say, well, what the title of this thread says: BIG THANKS TO MOSAIC!!!! I owe you one image

What's this "bedroom" you guys keep mentioning?

(I've got a studio in New York that I love...)
  • You're welcome.

I gotta say, people being silly and sharing cards is totally the thing that makes me prefer this particular forum over Beckett's. I remember when I first joined, I was surprised at how many people were simply "giving" cards to people. I hadn't seen that sort of behavior on any sports card forum before. Now, I get it.

Seeing people extend their enthusiasm for their favorite sets--heck, the hobby in general--to others is, for me, a big part of why it's fun to be a member here.

  • It's always fun to read stories like this. Good for you for helping out, and I hope someone returns the favor for you.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • I'm always up for base cards for the cost of shipping, I build a lot of sets, mostly modern, keeps me involved in the hobby when I can't afford to buy many boxes.
