eBay just ended all 6 of my auctions

They said it was for keyword spamming, but that is something I have never done. Since I started on eBay almost 10 years ago, at the end of the auction description I always put "Be sure to check my other auctions for .........." this time it was "Be sure to check my other auctions for a HUGE 237 card partial set of 1952 Topps baseball cards, a 1952 Topps Bob Feller PSA, 1952 Topps Yogi Berra PSA, and a PSA 9 1968 Ernie Banks!!"

Ive been doing it EVERY time I run auctions for almost a decade!! That's called driving traffic to your other LEGITIMATE VALID auctions, not keyword spamming.

Any thoughts? Anyone else have this happen to them recently?

you can't mention other specific auctions but you can use the 'view my other auctions' link. must have been reported by someone.

Live chat was a big waste of my time.

    << <i>you can't mention other specific auctions >>

Ive done that for almost 10 years with no problems

this time someone reported it and ebay did something about it. the've ended a few of mine for that too.

My understanding is that keyword spamming applies for the title only, not stating other legitimate auctions you have running, that sounds like a raw deal. I was watching your Aaron 1954 PSA 3, the only thing I can think of is that you included the phrase "1954 set" when it was just for that card, but that is a still a reach, IMO. Why wouldn't ebay WANT its paying sellers to mention other auctions in their listing? To penalize someone for doing so is just asinine.

it's anything searchable on ebay. description can be searched just like auction title.

when they ended mine a few months ago they forwarded the policy and it specified auction description as well as title

But many sellers who use AuctionHelper and other listing services have a function where you can see all their other auctions up for sale in addition to the current one. Are those, then, in violation of ebay TOS, too?

those have the running banner ad for other auctions....I do not believe those come up in keyword searches. it's the info you actually input under the item description that comes up in a search

earlycalguy was right on the money. I guess I really am a keyword spammer lol Here is the response I got from eBay's distrust and unsafe department:

    Dear Nick,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your listing removal.

First of all, we realize that you have been listing items for some time in this manner. However, please understand that because of the sheer number of listings on eBay, we aren't able to review every listing. We don't catch every violation. Our policies are designed to make the eBay Community a safe, vibrant marketplace. When we find listings in violation of eBay policy, we take appropriate action.

Regarding your listing removal, your listing description included the text,

"Be sure to check my other auctions for a HUGE 237 card partial set of 1952 Topps baseball cards, a 1952 Topps Bob Feller PSA, 1954 Topps Hank Aaron ROOKIE PSA, and a PSA 9 1968 Ernie Banks!! Good luck!!"

eBay does not allow sellers to include words to attract people to your listings if the words don't describe the actual item. You can use brand names or keywords only if they relate directly to the item that you're offering in the listing.

For example, you're not allowed to say, "Please view my other eBay listings for Beanie Babies, vintage Barbie's, Rolex watches and Chanel scarves."

However, you could say, "Please view my other eBay listings for more great items."

Using other brand names or keywords may make if difficult for buyers to find the items that they want when performing a search. This can make if difficult for buyers to find the items that they want on eBay. For this reason, you're not permitted to use unrelated keywords because they may confuse and mislead buyers.

Please be assured that it was not our intention to question your standing in the eBay Community or cause you stress.

However, to protect the eBay Community we take action when we find a listing that is in violation of our policy. We remove the listing and
contact the seller to explain why the listing was removed. In addition, we encourage the seller to learn more about our policies in order to
avoid similar situations in the future. This is the best way to ensure that eBay remains a safe online marketplace for everyone.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply to this email and let us know.

I love how they always pull out the "protect our community" BS. What, exactly, are they protecting it from?

My father recently had an item pulled because it said "like new" in the title. He was selling a portable handheld tv that he used 3 or 4 times and when it wasn't in use he stored it in bubblewrap. (I swear with the way my dad keeps his things, if he had a 52 Mantle, it'd be a 10) Anyway, some guy who was selling the same model tv "new in package" got a hard on and complained about the "like new" part. After ebay pulled it, the guy even had the audacity to email my father and berate him for ending his auction early. The guy said he was the high bidder at $20 more than what he was selling his "new in package" tvs for. THESE are the type of people that eBay should be protecting it's community from.

Hopefully the people that were looking/bidding will be back, and all it cost me was a week's time. We'll see.

WTF! Are they f*ing kidding? They'd windup pulling over half their auctions from every large Powerseller if they enforced this.

They'll never do that and hurt their wallet, I guess they make an example of the smaller sellers.
  • Well this must be Ebay 's week of :we are going to clean up this week they just pulled one of my auctions for spamming. Here is their almighty explanation :

You recently listed the following auction-style listing:

    260171260436 - 1996 Topps Finest BARRY BONDS GOLD # 105 PSA 10 not 9

The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Keyword Spamming policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:
    in title:
    not 9

What a crock of chit guess I should have put (ref 9)

  • << <i>Hopefully the people that were looking/bidding will be back, and all it cost me was a week's time. We'll see. >>

and on the relist you can now save 33%!

maybe with the market crash friday it's good to wait another week

At USPS they have a "problem of the month" type of thing where some bean counters decide that we would do better if we fix this one thing. They check it real heavy for a month or so, then move on to the next problem.

It's real possible that ebay has interns or whatever looking for one problem after the other and that this month's problem is keyword spamming. A little while ago they were searching auctions for references to cash. Maybe keywords are the flavor of the month?

jmbkb4 is right... this happened to you (as it has to MANY others) because someone out there has nothing better to do than just be a douche.

I had my MJ Roop boxes pulled ON THE 7th DAY! because I had advertised them as being storage for BGS and PSA graded cards...
Sure, I can see that as being a little keyword spammy, but COME ON! That's what they are for aren't they?

There are deff. people out there that just need to catch a case of the clap..... from a tranny.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

that's a tough one - kinda of like selling a pair of shoes and mentioning the word feet in your listing
  • Start selling fake items and shilling them up. Ebay will leave you alone then.
  • So I'd like to know where, you got the notion
said I'd like to know where, you got the notion

to rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby
rock the boat, don't tip the boat over
rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby
    rock the boat-t-t-t-t

Ever since our voyage of love began
your touch has thrilled me like the rush of the wind
and your arms have held me safe from a rolling sea
there's always been a quiet place to harbor you and me

Our love is like a ship on the ocean
we've been sailing with a cargo full of, love and devotion

So I'd like to know where, you got the notion
said I'd like to know where, you got the notion

To rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby
rock the boat, don't tip the boat over
rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby
    rock the boat-t-t-t-t

Up to now we sailed through every storm
and I've always had your tender lips to keep me warm
oh I need to have the strength that flows from you
don't let me drift away my dear, when love can see me through

Our love is like a ship ...
