One of the coolest things I've bought in a while...
I don't do a lot of SSP around here, but this one's too cool to hold back. Purchased last month, just arrived this week.

From the auction catalog: "Plaster model of the 'Jubilee Head' of Queen Victoria, by Joseph Edgar Boehm, bust left wearing Imperial crown and veil, signed on shoulder JEB, a roughly oval piece of plaster 117mm. x 92mm."
The piece was consigned by a member of the Wyon family, along with other works by William and L.C. Wyon.
And what was a piece created by Boehm doing in the Wyon estate? I quote:
"1887 was also Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee year, after having appeared as a teenager on sovereigns for 50 years. a new portrait was introduced. The new portrait by Joseph Edgar Boehm was engraved by L.C. Wyon using the new reduction punch from a plaster model." (Quoted from (these guys))
And the end result, as most of us know, was this...

Cool, eh?

Unfortunately, someone else wanted Wyon's "Young Head" model just a bit more than I did.

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
I know that one day I'm going to regret not stretching, but it just didn't make sense for me right now. It's exactly the same as when I tried to buy Selig's Three Graces Crown in white metal. The coin would probably grade PR68CAM or better. That is, if removed from the lunette in which it was housed since the day it was struck! At the time, it was just too pricey, but I wish I had not let that stop me.

Very, very cool items, wish I'd looked at that auction, absolutely green with envy.
Info provided earlier in thread probably came from either Michael Marsh or Christopher Challis.

The Boehm plaster is tres cool, but this one you will definitely regret.
And to think I was lusting for a mere Franklin terracota.........
BTW, both are definitely "11" on Fatman's scale.
