World or Foreign?

When you're searching for coins in the realm of world material do you search for world, or foreign?

Are there any polls done on this?

It's more Politically Correct to call them World. It has been pointed out to me that a US coin, to a Canadian, is 'foreign'.

I think you're really asking how to find the 'good' World coins. On eBay I narror my search to just the category for World Coins. Of course Heritage has sales explicity of World coins...

I never use either term for a search, it's just to generic. I search much more specific keywords.

I generally just look for the country I want coins from. Germany, Austria etc. first... What may be foreign to me may not be foreign to a dealer in Germany or Austria. When I looked at your link on this post I searched what you had under world coins, since your main listings were for US coinage. If your site were in German I would also look under world coins if I were looking for US coins. The key is to make your site visible to a huge amount of people looking for coins that you have, then they will be able to find the coin if you have it. Do a Google search and see if you can find your site without using the name, just some items you offer. If not, you need to make it more visible to the public. I am a fan of the Buffalo Creek and Gauley railroad and if you do a Google search for Buffalo Creek Gauley the first site to pop up is mine. I started it in 2001 just to try building a website and have paid very little attention to it since 2004 but it is still on top. Granted there are no where as many sites for the BC&G as there are for coins but I have enough key words that almost any search of it or its equipment leads to my site first so it gets more hits and remains at the top of all listings. How would I do that with coins? That is a million dollar question that if I could answer I might be rivaling any coin site or auction house on the 'net with listings and consignments offered for sale.

Isn't the US part of the World?

Teletrade has it right, technically. They list "foreign" coins as "Non-USA".

foreign is also more subjective word; collecting does not need to be a science, but numismatics is, and if a description is needed then world seems better.

If I am looking for bulk world coins, I would search under Foreign and again under world. Other than that, I type in the country i am interested in.
