Pocket Piece Wear Progression Tracking Thread ~ Update November 2007

I was somewhat dissapointed at losing the 1982 Silver Washington Half Dollar that I had been using as my daily pocket piece for the past couple of years. It had gone from gem mint state to a solid XF and I was looking forward to seeing it get even slicker. Since I lost that coin recently in Bermuda I did some thinking about what to use as my new pocket piece.
Today I decided to use the Thomas Jefferson First Spouse Bronze Medal. I received the medal late last week direct from the Mint for a whopping $4 or something like that. It's quite attractive and surprisingly hefty (very thick). This medal will make an excellent pocket piece I think.
I'll do the same thing with this medal as I did with the last pocket piece. Here is the first photograph of the medal taken just tonight, moments after I cut it out of it's cellophane packet. I'll try to update this about every month or so.
Brand new, not carried as of yet. 10/19/2007

Photo taken 11/13/2007, Obverse getting an interesting orange mottled tone. Reverse getting fiery red with purples and oranges all over.

I wouldn't worry about a Gallery Mint replica 1792 half dime used as a pocket piece when it is in your hands, but what might happen if, say for instance, you should lose it? Once it becomes worn it almost invites someone to attempt to pass it as real. We identified just such an example on eBay on this very forum a couple of years ago, and were successful in having it removed from auction, but what becomes of such pieces later on? Hopefully your long lost pocket piece still retains the requisite word COPY, and will never show up in the numismatic marketplace as a genuine item.

It is bronze so I guess it's the picture.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
<< <i>did it go through the washer? >>
Nope, not yet but I'm sure it will sooner or later. My last pocket piece saw a few trips through both the washer and dryer on accident.
