Rutgers runs a play and gets a first down. After the play was dead, a Rutgers player was flagged for a personal foul.
Why does Rutgers have the ball 1st and 10 and not 1st and 25? Seems to me the whistle makes it a 1st and 10, and it should go back 15 yards to be 1st and 25...

USF will drop to #18, IMO they were an at best questionable #2 to begin with.

<< <i>That is true. Just liked the story of a team that has come so far and they really do have good wins. Going to be a clusterf**k by the time the BCS gets decided this year. Really have no idea how the top is going to shake out this year. Don't think there will be an undefeated team outside of Hawaii by the time it's all done >>
Hawaii doesn't have an easy road. They still have to play Boise St. and Fresno St. (both home) while they have Nevada (lost to boise 69-67) on the road. That game vs. San Jose St. shows that even Brennan is human sometimes, and I just can't wait till he plays a team with a pulse because their schedule is a JOKE! Their biggest out of conf. game is still yet to be played vs. Washington and other than that they had the real challengers from Charleston Southern and Northern Colorodo already come in and give a tough fight.... yeah right!

I believe that is because the player gained a first down on the play and the most important part, the play was dead. Good question though and one I was wondering about.
USF had every chance they could have asked for to win that game despite a couple of home field calls that Rutgers received. Good game and this should be another great weekend of college football.

To add on to what drew said, I remember something being said about this some years ago in a similar situation. They official claimed that it isn't technically first down until the ball is placed and the chains are moved or some crap like that. Don't remember if it was a college or pro game and if that makes any difference, but it was ruled something like that as I recall.
