Any ideas for Holiday/birthday gifts for kids for about $75 each?

Just wanted some opinions...I always get b'day gifts and holiday gofts for my good friend's sons. They are 8 and 11 years old. They do enjoy cards, but more recent stuff. They know names like Aaron and Mays, etc, but have neverseen their cards. I wanted to combine their b'day/holiday gifts this year and get them each a graded card w/ approx $75 value. I thought of maybe 1960 Mays for one and Aaron for the other. I thought maybe in PSA5/6 range. What do you guys think? Any other ideas? Maybe 1955 Bowman's in PSA4?

I buy my son 90's wax boxes of football and we put the sets together.
I usually put min. bids on wax and cello boxes that are cheap with reasonable shipping.
I got a raw Payton rookie for about $75 for his birthday last year.

Are you getting them other stuff too? I am sure they would love the cards. but kids need something to play with on "Holiday Morning"

Get them a cheap VG card of each for $8-$15 each on ebay and it will be the same to them. Then they can show it off and you don't have to worry about them scratching the slab or losing it as much. You could get a 71 of each guy for cheap. I bought a lot of mow-mid grade late 60's to mid 70's with lots of stars and key cards for $150 last year. Book value was probably like $2500. I have bought 60 Mays All Star for like $7 shipped in VG shape. Get them some toys and spend less on cards until they get older.

  • They always get more than enough from their own parents...this is just a little something from Uncle Craig!
  • I would get them a wax box or maybe a factory set from the year they were born.

If you're the Uncle, then you should get them each 75 one dollar bills ... and then take them up to the local strip club.
