Eagles beat the Bears - guaranteed

stevekstevek Posts: 29,046 ✭✭✭✭✭
Eagles cannot lose this game. Stone cold mortal lock Eagles victory. Eagles go to 3 - 3 and are right back in the playoff hunt. Bears fall to 2 - 5 basically falling out of playoff contention, and the "jinx" of the next season for the previous season Super Bowl loser continues.

Heh you are pretty safe with that prediction, Da Bears may go winless the rest of the season. Lovie called them out yesterday for just showing up. Their fire has been extinguished.

Ut-Oh, When IrishMike comes on and doesn't totally blast me for the pick and the guarantee, then the pick might be in trouble. image

NFL football is interesting in that almost any team when they are cornered and desperate and seemingly about to collapse, seem to rebound strongly not always winning the game but being very competitive again. I just didn't think the Bears players felt they were at that point yet of sheer desperation but if they are, then it's gonna be a tougher game for the Eagles than I thought.

Now I'm a little worried. I'm still leaving up the guarantee but it's now printed in stone instead of titanium steel.

You just doomed the Eagles, like you previously doomed the Phillies.

    Many Thanks,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The prediction is now etched in titanium-plus steel. Eagles win for sure.

I see you're playing the reverse chicken dance card.

You maybe improved your odds by +/- 25% but thefootballgods are still frowning upon you.

No problem. I do what I can for suffering Philadelphia fans. The AHL Phantoms are still pretty good, right?

Dam - Now I'm confused. I'm not sure which jinxs are in effect or not or which ones have been properly reversed?

I would NOT consider this game won just yet! Griese is throwing the ball well, and you just cant tell which Philly team is going to show up from week to week......image

Which Philly offense would be correct. The Philly defense has been superb all season. The Philly defense will put a hurtin' on Griese so bad, that during this game he will have wished he chose a career in soccer instead.

Close type score but not really a close game:

    Eagles 23
    Bears 16

What is the use Eagle fan.....talking about playoffs, when you can't beat any of the other teams in your own divison! If I was an
Eagle fan I would be looking to lose as many games as I needed to in order to beat out the rest of the AFC East in getting the
#1 draft pick! Find yourself a new QB and start the whole rebuilding thing, cause 07 is over.

I ran out and grabbed Hester and put him in as my flex back....I smell alot of points and they aint coming from the Eagles!

After seeing what Peterson did to Chicago last Sunday, I'm just glad that I have Westbrook in my starting lineup on my fantasy team!

And Philly -5 is one of my six picks on those ubiquitous football tickets this week, so, yes, there's no QUESTION they will prevail. The Bears aren't the Packers of Week 1, right, Steve?? Steve, put down that bottle of bourbon and chime in here, will ya?? image

  • Chicago has no chance whatsoever of winning this game, their ridiculous overrated defense is more porous than swiss cheese, their best running back plays for the jets, and they will be out of the playoff hunt at 2-5.

If the eagles screw this up, they deserve every ounce of ridicule that comes their way.

Actually what happened to the Bears D last week is what scares me a little bit here. Normally a great D like the Bears have, that gets toasted a bit, rebounds and plays better the following game. But again, the Bears have that Super Bowl losers syndrome this season that's tough to overcome - you go all out for a year, and then get whomped in the big game and it seems it has a lasting effect, perhaps you could call it "depressing" effect on the players for awhile. The NFL is so evenly matched that a little negative like this can mean a lot and the trends in recent years certainly show that.

Interesting that the books have the O/U at 41 1/2 which isn't a high number but this certainly appears to be a very low scoring game on paper. You would think the number would be lower than this - at least in the 30's. When the books have something different than what appears to be logical, it usually means it goes in that direction IE in this case being a higher scoring game than you think, IE that bodes well for the Eagles.

Barring any "stupidity" by McNabb, I think your choice is a solid pick, but who knows how McNabb is going to play? I just gotta believe sooner or later that McNabb has got to break out of this funk he's in, which might be more in his head than injury related. Yes, he showed a lot in the Lions game but most of that was a waste - the Eagles didn't need all that to win. The sign of a winning quarterback is one who can pull out games in the clutch, in the 4th quarter, and McNabb has clearly been lacking that all season.

  • If Chicago has no chance whatsoever of winning the game, why put you little safety disclaimer about the Eagles below. How could there be ridicule if they have no chance to win.

    Your posts are a joke.

    You are a joke.

Just you saying " they have no chance whatsoever" gives them a chance and then some in my book.

Clever, but mostly sad, is the segway for the Eagles. Now if they do loose, you can say they deserve every ounce of riducule.

Sad, Sad, Sad. I cant beleive there is actually a human being that thrives on negative reinforcement.

Oh sorry Thrill - I missed that and that was "nice" of Axtell to clear that up. I had been crying loudly since that post and had made an appointment to see my psychiatrist first thing in the morning to discuss my hurt feelings.

Now I can just focus on what's it's like to be a perenially losing Philadelphia sports fan. Thank goodness Penn State won today so I'm in a good mood and might even decide to get laid tonight - as long as she's not too expensive. LOL

Thanks man! I do a lot of business in the New York - North Jersey area and have made many good business friends up there over the years. I've got a ton of respect for Giants fans and they definitely are great fans. We talk a little smack with each other during Eagles - Giants week before the game but if the Eagles don't win the East, I never mind seeing the Giants represent the East in the playoffs.

I actually lived in CT up until the 5th grade, before the fam moved to Philly. My dad owned a billiard parlor in CT back in the 60's, and a number of the Giants players used to shoot pool there and I met and shook hands with some of them. All of them super nice guys! Wish now I would have gotten their autographs but since it was my dad's place of business, I didn't think I should do that - after all they were paying customers and I didn't want to bother them.

steve better stop his predictions. i sure hope he doenst gamble

but there bears had some strange calls go their way again. the snap rule about the if the ball never leaves the ground its not a turnover?? and where was the holding call on the right tackle on the winning TD pass. not to mention a rather weak holding call on the eagles on a run that would have almost iced the game.

if you let the bears hang around they might win, but if you keep your foot on their throat they will wimper away at the end. again the eagle cant score in the red zone.

Bears won, but they are still really bad football team. Defense gave up over 100 yards rushing, over 350 yards total. The offense is horrible. No running game. Cedric has 17 carries for 40 something yards. Hard to believe they won.

For someone who professes no belief in religion, you certainly invoke the name of God an awful lot. But then again, that's not surprising coming from a hypocrite like you.

You must lead a very miserable life. I almost pity you, but not quite.
