first, Ian Oconner basically trapped Steinbrenner into saying "joe will Go"....he called him up at the hotel he was staying at, asked the man (who is suffering from dementia) if joe could be fired if he lost the series (a loaded question), and then printed the story like Steinbrenner called a press conference saying joe must go...shame on you Ian for taking advantage of the situation just for a story....no wonder Newsday fired this guy, he is scum...
second, yesterdays report that Mattingly wasnt ready to manage was fabricated! how can they fabricate a story like that, Donnie is piised and i hope he goes after the person who made up that story....
just for you out of towners..if you read anything in the Post, Newsday, or daily news, DONT BELIEVE IT!
the only reputable paper in NY is the New York Times....the others are truly tabloids...

If you ignore the op-ed section, you may be right.
But yes, these occurances happen when guys want to make a name for themselves regardless of how they do it. Pretty sad and hope they pay the price.
their season is OVER. Someone call ESPN and all other forms of media and news and please inform them all that their season is OVER and that 99 percent of us really don't give a damn what they do because there are still 3 teams playing in an exciting post season.
