Colorado Rockies

I'm not a big baseball fan but I do watch the playoffs some. Those Rockies really do rock. What a team! I hope they win it all.

  • << <i>sox and Indians are battling tooth and nail and the Rockpile gets to play the Diamondbacks! >>

What exactly does this mean? The NL west was a very competitive division, with a .519 winning percentage, better than the AL east or central.

Your continued insistence that the ALCS is somehow the 'real' world series is tiring....give it a break already.
  • Yes the West was a very competitive division; of Medicore teams. I think you'll find that your in very small minority that thinks the NL West teams constitute a strong division. There are great individual players in the West, but overall very weak, light hitting lineups (exception of Colorado, which has weaker pitching) The NL West wasnt as pathetic as the Central, but remember they play each other 18 times each. Throw any NL team into the AL central for East and see how well the do.

I enjoy watching Colorado play, i love their lineup and their stellar defense and they have a lot of momentum. That being said, the Diamondbacks are a very weak team, light hitting, one stud pitcher (whom the Rockies crushed all year long)

  • << <i>Yes the West was a very competitive division; of Medicore teams. >>

Huh? 2 90 win teams, SD won 89 games. The AL central had the Indians win 96 games, no other team won 90. I wouldn't necessarily call 3 89+ win teams 'mediocre'. But then, the byproduct of the east coast biased media has everyone thinking teams out west in all sports are somehow inferior.

I do not follow baseball, but I was born on Denver and follow the Colorado pro sports teams.

The Rockies are on a hot streak. It would be interesting to see them sweep Arizona, go to the World Series and then sweep either the BoSox or the Indians. If that happened all of the baseball "experts" would have to figure out how to explain to the masses "how this happened".

First off, The Rockies will never sweep the Red Sox or Indians. No way, Impossible.

I'd bet my signature line on it.image

I dare say that if your beloved Seattle Mariners played in the NL, they would probably be a division winner image

  • << <i>axtroll, the NL teams are clearly the weaker teams in the playoffs. >>

Clearly? What makes you say that? Both Arizona and Colorado had similar ERA's to Cleveland, and, factoring in the ballpark in Colorado, I'd dare say their pitching staff did a better job. WHIP (walks+hits/9innings) Cleveland, Arizona, and Colorado are nearly identical, 1.32, 1.36, 1.38. Colorado also set a MLB record for fielding percentage this year as well.

Arizona clearly struggled offensively, but, comparing OPS, Colorado did outslug Cleveland (thanks to that home field).

So, no, the NL teams are not 'clearly' the weaker teams. If you want to continue to buy into that media bias that says there's no way the NL teams can compete, by all means, go ahead, but the numbers don't lie.

  • I wouldn't bet against the Rockies winning the series, it's all about momentum at this time of the year.

Rockies will be very hard for either A.L. team to defeat.

As hot as the Rockies are now, surely either Boston or Cleveland can put up a better fight in the World Series than Arizona or Philadelphia did in their respective playoff series. image

  • Only saving grace for the A.L. representative in the Series is that the Rockies will have 8 days off, just enough time for the momentum to wane.

It is idiotic that there is an 8 day layoff between games.

    Go Rocks!!!!!!

  • I hope the "mojo" stays with them and they win it all. I hope the layoff doesn't hurt the team. I'm not a baseball fan anymore but they've got me watching it again. They are a very exciting team. Good luck to the Rockies and all their fans.

The Rockies are hot like fire!
  • And MLB and the networks continue their self-fulfilling prophecy of saying teams out West won't draw fans by having the games play well past midnight eastern.

The Rockies are on a roll and it's idiotic that they have to have 8 days off before the world series starts.

Yeah let's just declare the Indians the winner so we can dispense with such a trivial thing such as a schedule.

No, let's not give the AL teams multiple days off in the middle of a series so as to stretch out the playoffs as long as possible.

Should be a very interesting series no matter who represents the AL. Baseball in late October in Cleveland, Boston, and Denver
will deliver one of the colder series ever. Since the Indians started in the snow it would be only fitting for the Tribe to face some
snow in Colorado. If the Rockies can steal on of the first two games, playing the middle three in Colorado would be an advantage.

Also, interesting scenarios present themselves in the NL park. If Byrd pitches one of the three middle games, both Garko and Hafner
will be absent from the lineup. I am not as familiar with the Sox line-up to see possible quirks for them in Colorado.

All this said, lets enjoy the rest of this ALCS and let the Rockies cool down some from this hot streak they have been on for the last 22 games.

Everyone is entitled to the same number of days off. It's not going to change nor should it change.
  • I guess we should give the A.L. winner 8 days off after the finish of the series then if everyone is entitled to same number of days off.

They can play 6 games in seven days during the regular season, then we get to playoffs and are lucky to get 4 played in a week.

I hope if blizzards in Colorado and we wait another 10 days, would serve MLB right.

Why? Shouldn't the team that wins faster get an advantage?

    of course they should.
