I blame eBay for this...

With some of my other projects winding down and patiently waiting for the last few items to show up on eBay to complete them I finally decided to start a (VERY) low grade 1935 National Chicle set in PSA 1 - PSA 3.

Recently with the Chicle set going no where fast due to a lack of PSA offerings as late on eBay, I decided to start a 1948 Leaf set to help pass the time and make certain I didn't do something foolish like save my money.

While I am putting the set together in mid-grade to make the quest easier and more affordable, I am (for the time being at least) commited to having a well centered set. For those of you familiar with this release, you know the centering issues all too well and can imagine there is not exactly a glut of well centered mid-grade PSA offerings on eBay at any given time.

So now I am contemplating starting yet another big project... 1950 Bowman in PSA 4 - PSA 6 or 1955 Topps All-American in PSA 5 or above.

Just curious how many others have started project after project because they got bored waiting for offerings on the previous projects?

Stupid eBay! Awww, who am I kidding... image

  • I have multiple projects running all the time -- it helps get through the times when cards from one set are scarce, but it makes it difficult when a bunch of cards are available all at once. I can't say that boredom drove me in this direction though -- I just always find other interesting sets to build...

I think 1950 Bowman football in PSA 4-6 is a great place to be. There are many cards in that range, and they're affordable. The prices rise very sharply for 8's, and sometimes 7's, but most 6's remain reasonable.

    Good luck!

I have a few duplicate low grade Chicles, particularly high #s -- if eBay isn't keeping you busy enough, let me know. image I also am putting together the 1950 Bowman set, and have many duplicates in the 5-6 range.

  • It all depends on the issue. Some 48 Leaf's in PSA 5-6 will run you higher than some 1950 Bowman in PSA 7-8. Regardless, both sets (especially 48 Leaf) are undervalued.
If you are on a budget, 1950 Bowman football in PSA 5-6 will be very affordable. If Ebay is slow, you can find many of these cards on dealer websites.
