7 on the aaron... very nice though
  • 7 on the Aaron, centering keeps it from 8. I'll give you $50 for it thoughimage
  • nice Aaron, i need it for my set image

    7 would be my guess
  • Aaron centering is fine for an 8. only concern is the surface....the mark near the team name. 7 minimum, possible 8 NQ. Beautiful card.

  • 7 on the Matthews, two fuzzy corners it looks like
  • Ron, cravetopps mentioned that the line by the team name on the Aaron might knock it down to a 7... correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I think that line is on ALL 61 Topps Aaron cards. At least it's on the 2 I have and others I have seen on eBay. By the way, 8 also on the Matthews.

Easy 7s for the Aaron and Mathews.

    Great cards, Ron image

7/8 Need to see back of card as the top right and bottom right corners are deceptive (to me).
  • This PSA 9 doesn't have the line.

I think the Mathews has no shot at an 8. One corner (lower right) just too soft to get it there. Super nice, centered 7, I think.

Everything about the Aaron is nice enough to be an 8, except for centering. Usually the PD and fisheyes on this card are on the photo, not the name or team name. If it rests in a 7 holder, it'll be one of the nicest sevens out there.

I got most of these at a card shop back in Ohio. The Aaron was purchased raw at a show.

May post one more in a bit. All except the Mathews will go in this week.

    Thanks,

    Ron

    6 – Yaz
    8 – Aaron MVP
6 – Mays (5 if that bottom edge isn’t better than your scan)
9 – Mantle (is the upper left chipped a little?)
    8 (PD) - Aaron
    6 – Mattews
5 - Maz bottom two corners look soft

That Mays could get slammed if it looks like your scanner shows....tough to say without a good scan.

Well boys, all except the Mathews and Maz went in today. Will let you know the results and post scans when they return.

    Ron

PS. For the record, I'm voting 7,8,7,8 (possible 9) and praying for an 8 on the Aaron.

59 Mantle IA 8, maybe 9 (I'd love to buy that one from you!)

Might as well get this one out of the way. A bitter disappointment. I've missed surface wrinkles before, but never on a big card like this.....and I still can't see one. Get a good look at this one because I'm popping it out of the holder in about 5 minutes.

Really hoped for a 9 here, but it's hard to be unhappy with this card.

Nice cards Ron. Looks like PSA was tough on the '61 Aaron's and '59 Mantle. I would resubmit the Mantle card at a show. With on site grading you might do better. It does look like a 9.

Also why is Mantle pooping out a baseball?? Maybe he's saying what he thinks of the grades you received.

An example of why some people hate graded cards - especially when the $$$ differences between 7-8 and especially 8-9 are so huge.
  • Ron, when you resubmitted the Aaron did you send it with other 61s or with other years? By itself?

  • Did you resub the 1960 Yaz? What was the grade?
  • RonBurgundyRonBurgundy Posts: 5,491 ✭✭✭
    Leadoff -

I resubmitted the Aaron with the 58's that I recently got graded. It was just too nice a card to rest in a 7 holder and fortunately, PSA agreed.

The only other card I resubmitted was the '61 Aaron (regular issue) and it is at PSA now. Fingers crossed on that one. Someday I might resubmit the '59 Mantle IA because I really think it is arguably a 9.
