Nolan #2

Aren't these cards supposed to have black borders?

Also...does anyone have a guess as to what the first PSA 10 1986 Topps Sandberg and Ozzie Smith might sell for?

That is way off center bottom to top for a 10. That makes the other 10 look good even with the wacky back.

    Gosh, I guess.

Might be worthwhile to continue resubmitting a "9".

Better centered on the back than the other PSA 10 we saw last week when it was listed as a 1/1, but brutal centering T/B for a 10, poor eye appeal even for a 9, sheesh.

That's what I was thinking, too. Every 9+ should be in the mail asap.

What about the Sandberg and Ozzie, though? I know those registry sets aren't huge and few players command premiums similar to Nolan Ryan, but could those 1/1's bring as much as $500 on the first sale?
  • The card is a little off center, but not way off center. Looks like 60/40 to me which is still within the limits for a 10.

I don't have a problem with the centering, but what's with the top edge above the "O" in Astros? No way should that be a 10!

60/40 TB? Looks like 70/30 to me. I've seen better centered cards than that one grade 9OC.

That may be glare from the scanner. Not sure if that's the card.

i would not even think to submit an 86 with the chipping on those edges...unless it is a glare.

i've never seen a decently centered sandberg....i do think the 10 ozzie and sandberg may fetch close to $500.

    Thanks,

i hate to keep beating this card and i'm not intending for this to be spam but compare these 2 mets cards to the ryan. the scan of the ryan has to be distorted with the flash or something for the edges to look that way and receive a 10.

    86 mets psa 9

  • $5.25 for shipping + $1.35 required on each auction ? I thought 4SC was horrible with thier $4.00 shipping, but $6.60 ?! These people have lost thier mind, I would never buy from them. Good lord.

Their shipping prices may be on the high side, but JustCollect and Leighton Sheldon, who owns it, is one of the best in the business.

All this talk about 86 Topps Baseball has me being nostalgic, So I went through my "80's" album and pulled a few Ozzie's and Ryans. Tell me if you think mine look as good or better than the 10 for sale on E-bay right now.Lol

  • I would pay no more than $20 for a 1986 PSA 10 Ozzie. I am pretty sure the rest of the top Ozzie guys would agree with me.

    tb,
based on the ryan 10s, i'd submit all 3 of yours and the middle 2 ozzie's as well.

    prscott,
i don't think you would have to worry about winning the ozzie if $20 was your limit.

    Thanks,

  • Bollocks to that so-called "10". Obvious white showing through the black. I have a 9 that looks better than that! Maybe I should send it in until I get a 10 and put it on eBay too?

The back on the previous 10 was insanely off center, but the front was way, way, way better than this one. C'mon PSA!

... definitely reiterates the "buy the card, not the holder" mantra.

I really think the first Ozzie 10 would fetch real dollars. $350 minimum.

And tennesseebanker might just be the seller!!! Dude...send in all of those Ozzies and Nolans!!! PSA 10 is definitely a possibility!
  • Maybe it was graded by one of the graders that PSA was trying to hire through the message boards. That card is flat out nasty yet people will still buy it because the label says 10.

  • $1500 already?! Are people even looking at the scan?!

Registry collectors are nuts. Flat out bonkers. There's no way anyone buys that card for 10 money if they actually look at it. They're spending thousands for a flip with a cert # and "10."

If you thought the race to bust 86 wax was on before, this auction is going to turn that into a marathon... everybody's going to be submitting now, hoping their speckled-edged cards get that coveted 10 flip.

I don't think the centering is that bad. I would be complaining about the chipping.

I will say this, my 2 recent 9's are better looking cards.

  • I have to admit...The crazy prices being paid for these 86 10's have made me buy a few boxes to rip.....bought 8 topps and 20 OPC...15 bucks each.....gonna see what i can come up with....
