Does anyone collect palladium?

Is it popular? I have quite a few 1/10 ounce bullion rounds and was wondering if I should get more or buy in larger quantities.

  • I dont' collect it, but I Think it will grow more popular over time.

What are the options for collecting?

I used to collect palladium 1oz coins. More for speculation than to keep long term. They tend to be thinly traded and tough to find unless you go to bullion dealers. For that reason, the coin prices just track bullion prices. I have been out of them for some time but made handsome profits.

Be careful of the wild swings in the price of this metal. There are market forces in play that put novices at a great disadvantage.

"What are the options for collecting? "

Until 2005 it was mostly rounds from Stillwater, a few Russian issues, and one set from Tonga. In 2005 the Canadian mint started issuing 1 ounce coins; I hope the US will do the same. Since the recent rise in gold, palladium, along with most other precious metals has been going up, so it may not be the best time to buy.

What happened to palladium in Aug? Was it one of the "discovered a new catalytic converter that runs on seawater" rumors?

I was going to go with Rhodium, but couldn't find anyone who sold 1000 oz bars...
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

image I think that comment went over most people's heads. At $6k/troy oz, a 1000 oz bar would be a cool $6 million.

I think I still have a half ounce of rhodium sponge in the desk drawer - at these levels, I might have to sell.

I got it. I'm still looking in the bottom of the closet for that 100 oz bar I used to have.
