1885 Morgan VAM 8 disappears . . . .

Just noticed that the 1885 VAM 8 is no longer a VAM that PCGS recognizes, and it is no longer part of the "Morgan Super Set". I guess they have decided that this VAM really does not exist, as many on this board have speculated.

I don't think anyone's proven it exists...perhaps Leroy eliminated it.

I sure wish I had one of the few that were actually, and incorrectly, attributed as VAM 8 by PCGS.

There were only two graded. I submitted them both back in September 2005 and grades were posted October 17 -- MS62 and MS63. Following Leroy's lead, PCGS stopped recognizing VAM 8 and switched to VAM 22 a day after my grades posted and a day before I picked them up. I decided they'd be fun to leave as is for curiosity pieces. They are currently owned by two enthusiastic California VAM collectors.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • There was 1 on Ebay,in an ANACS holder with Vam 8 on it a couple of months ago.I believe WOLF359 was second bidder on it.Would love to have one with that designation on the holder even though it's probably a 22.Just cool to have!
