Grading standards, PSA, BGS, Whats up?

I am wondering about grading standards when it comes to PSA and BGS.
I only collect 80's Baseball. Almost all Hall Of Famers. Exeptions are 84 Donruss Mattingly, 83 Topps Traded Strawberry, 89 U.D. Griffey ( future H.O.F. ), and a few others from that decade. I collect these just because they were my favs in high school.
I only collect BGS 9.5's or PSA 10's.
About 3 years ago, I sold all my PSA 10's and only buy or submitt to BGS.
The reason being that all my PSA 10's seemed to have a less stingent standard on centering. Is that just one of those things? Was it just the cards that I had? I have never known why?
I realize that most collectors and dealers on this board are with PSA.
I have almost every big name from the 80's. Only in their best card. PSA 10's are usually always a bit more $$$$. That doesnt matter to me, I just want the best looking out there.
Being that I buy, or try to buy every 80 Topps Henderson( in 9.0), 82 Topps Ripken, 83 Topps Boggs, Sandberg, Gwynn, Strawberry, 84 F.U. Puckett, 84 Donruss Mattingly, 85 Topps Mcgwire, all with the highest possible subs out there. Once a year I buy a 84 F.U. Clemens.
I have had all of these in PSA 10 at one point in time, and all seemed to be off center. Or at least more off center.
Only a few of my BGS 9.5 Tiffany cards are off center with a 9.5.
Is it just me, or do they have different standards. Was it just because it was many years ago?
Any opinions out there!

PSA generally won't give a card a "10" designation unless it has 60/40 or better centering.
By the way, Love your Refractor set. Tough as nails to get those babies with top grades!
Lots of time and work.
95+% are my own submissions, so it was very time-consuming!
Is the Trammel the only psa 8 in there? 9's and 10's is one hell of a feat!
And my definition of "10" centering is more strict than PSAs. It's not their fault, they can have whatever standards they want, and I'll just bid accordingly.
I have seen a few BGS 9.5's with a 9.5 for centering and wondered if the grader was smoking hubba on break. Just a few though. 86 Tiffany seems to be the worst.

yes it is -- in both sets I think! I may have an 8 of Henke in #2 as well. In any case, I've got about 5-6 perfect (and 5-6 PSA 9 quality) Trammels that I will be sending to PSA if I decide to renew my membership.
