  • Brian,

Sorry for misquoting your submissions. I understood it differently from our conversation of 2 years ago. They were certainly nicer coins in 2005.

Happy Hunting for that 70. image

  • i received my ONE set for my daughter earlier this week and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both sets overall. One of the quarters last night REALLY jumped out at me because it appears that the obverse is business struck (not a trace of SF) and the reverse is SF all the way. I've never seen anything like it. When I get home again tonight I'll have to check and see what state it is...I'm fairly certain it was Idaho...

I'm cutting them all out and placing em' in the Airtite album that I started for Emily back in 05'...

Seth, we did send in full mint sets as well but almost all of our 70's came from our first submissions which we pre-screened. Happy hunting to you to!

  • That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. image

"I'm sure we could pick at most of them and come up with a 69 or two that look the same or better."

Seth - Translation - a number of the 70's were "gifts" - even some of the owners of these coins state as much. Who cares whether the coins were carefully selected or whether the coins were submitted in whole sets - a gift is a gift is a gift - no?

    << <i>Paul,

Sometimes I wonder how they decide who to ship first. Don't feel bad as it seems to be the luck of the draw sometimes. >>

WTF...I just received an E-mail and they are now "On the way"

I bought these 6 sets about 35 minutes after they were released,...what gives?

Does the Mint fill the 100's and 1,000's of sets ordered first then gets to the guys like me who buy 10 or less sets? image

    Later, Paul.

  • A gift is a gift, yes. Generally pre-screening makes a big difference of the quality of the under-grade coin as it tends to be nicer as a hand selected coin than "just barely made it". A lot of the coins that weren't pre-screened were undesireable (spots, toning, marks) and sent a lot of buyers my way. image

    How are the Roosies?

Any MS69FB's to speak of...possible is this the year for the elusive MS70FB? image

If you order 5 minutes after the bell, you're waaaaaay back in line. 35 minutes could make you a week behind... There's a significant volume of orders in the first minutes of any release.

Could happen, but in general they've been rather difficult to find in high grade.

Roosies are the toughest I have ever seen in SF. Expect low pops in the top grade IMHO.

It will be disappointing if there are no Kennedys in 70 again as in 2006. From your preliminary review, do you guys think there will be any problem making 69s from either mint...as there was on the 05-D ?
  • Hello Dave,

69's will be there for P&D.

What do you think Mark, P & D Kennedy's O'Pleanty in MS69? Looks about right to me
  • DatentypeDatentype Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭
Kennedy D's that have just a chance for me of 69 are 1.8%, while P's are 1.3%. Some these will not make it. Not great for 69's but not terrible. By no means will i be smimming in them.

Twincam - We will all be "swimming" in MS69 Kennedys soon enough - but, I didn't say just how large the pool would be. All kidding aside though - the high grade Kennedys (MS69) seem far more accessible then nickels or dimes by a wide margin I believe.

What a rip off. Ordered four sets one of them is missing half the coins Denver only no Philly coins in one box.
Out of what got don't think any of the coins would grade higher than 68.
Good luck in the search guys. Looks like I will be buying again. Was thinking of starting to submit myself but not for awhile yet, probably when I retire again and have more time.

The extra spike is also on the BU Jeff coins. Someone sent me a few examples recently.

  • I think a Kennedy-D Half may find it's way to SF 70 this year and the P mint half is less likely. I think the same is true of the SAC dollar, could see SF70. A few SHQ are nice in the 2007 sets like like the WA-D and WY-D but a complete set of of SHQ in SF69 will be a challange. It would not surprise me if no SF70 state quarters were awarded in 2007. I am glad I bought the 2005-D CA SF70 pop 1 from BRC in 2005, a perfect coin. dr
  • Completed the first 200 sets searched and finsished grading them out of the plastic. I may get a complete set of SHQ SF69 but not terribly optimistic as only a few of the tough P and D SHQ were submitted. I was not tryting to get SF68 coins to compete with the dealer hunters and hopefully with the hunters properly screening their coins we will not have a huge glut of these SF68. Would like to see SF68 remain profitable for the big 2,500 +/- mint set hunters so the elusive SF69 may be ferreted out but I am not going to buy any more than 300 mint sets if I can help it so hopefully you guys will find any I miss and visa versa for trading and sale purposes. Good luck to all in the grades you will get and I will offer out the dollars and extras I get if any in trade or sale. dr
