Soooo, if indeed this is a fake and it sure looks like one, and if the Chinese are the evil meanies knocking off US coins and selling them from China, WHO is knocking off the Chinese coins and selling them from the US?

Don’t know about its authenticity but it has more fingerprints on it then a crime lab at a down town police station.
  • Any bets on what (if any) response he'll make to this Question to Seller?

<< <i>You say 'Has not been verified authentic.'

    You also say '24grams.'

That proves it is NOT authentic, as a genuine coin would weigh 26.7g, and one worn down to less than 90% of original weight would have lost virtually all detail.

I'd love to have it for my birth-year counterfeit collection, but the bidding has already gone too high. image >>

And it sold to newcoinman for $129.00
  • I knew EBay disapproved of people notifying buyers they are being scammed, but I hadn't seen this before:

Checked my message log, and the query I sent newcoinman about why he bid so high for a replica is not there as a sent message. image

Hey, I reported the thing to Ebay as being a possible counterfeit, yet the sale continued anyway.

I tried to report it but the form I get asks if "I received" a counterfeit item. Can someone report this guy?
  • I guess my question about the weight did have an effect - mention of the weight has been removed from this otherwise identical listing.
