I hope to find someone to help me with scans someday soon, but in the meantime, the 50 pc. type set is "up" on the registry. As you can see, there are many unique pop.1 coins, as well as many very low pop others.

Display of the set will be temporary, fans. I will remove it from view shortly, and again display it, when I can get an operable scanner (operator). Your comments are appreciated.
If you have a scanner, I'm sure that several people can step to the plate and try to "Coach" through the process of getting caps of the coins.

With mine, I just went trial and error until I got a coin scan that resembled the coin in the slab. Just remember, lightly toned pieces scan best, monster toning can often look dark, and white pieces may look bleached out. That or you can just FedEx everything to Texas and I'll scan them for you. I promise I won't let Spooly cherrypick the Texas commems.

Nice set.
(Mine sure has a long ways to go-)

When it came to dupes in the pop of other series, I was made aware of the potential for dupes in the pops, or the exact number of known dupes in the highest grades. I just had never considered the lower pops, finest known commems may also have dupes.
I figured that Larry Shepherd and others would have known if the pops were incorrect, having seen all the top coins, and would have let someone know. I can't see a reason to neglect to correct the numbers.
I do know of the whereabouts of a few issues, for example, I (now, regretfully) passed on the second, or other finest known pop.2 California.
I think I need to do some research on this. Some of the low pop coins could be a lot rarer than originally thought.
Thanks, again, Pat. What a great positive idea. I can't wait until I hear my first confirmation.
PS. One reason I had never thought of it before, was that even I have seen, or know where most of the "others" are, when it comes to the low pop commems, but I am certainly not aware of all of them.

I'd think most registry guys would pay extra for this if they had nice coins, as it would be an excellent resource when it came time to sell a coin or set.
And of course the rest of us would love to see some photos. In the meantime, nice numbers!

I thought it made perfect sense to be able to get a professional scan, and then put the scans on the registry. This, I would have paid dearly for, (and another thing they could offer a review of the coins for upgrade). This could all be included in a "pedigree package" and would have made me very happy at almost any cost.
They could also offer at the same time, a "prestige" holder for the collector.
That's a coin-by-coin grade review, if desired, picture obverse and reverse, include info, and laminate, like Rick Snow does, (so collector has a permanent a pic, then coins can be stored), then scan to the registry, pedigree and re-holder in a nice "keeper" slab. It's a package one could hardly refuse.
Rick?: ... Not just another "spinning our wheels" idea, but another profit center...
