Are You In A Registry Set That You Aren't Serious About??

There is a Registry Set, which is similar to the
set I'm working on, but with one big difference.
The inclusion of proof coins.

All I would have to do is buy two of the proof-
only issues, and I would complete that set at
the same time I would complete the set I'm
actually working on, only it wouldn't be near
the top, because it would only have those
two proofs, while everyone elses sets would
have many proof coins which are available in
higher grades.

Here is the dilemma.

I added this other set a couple of days ago,
knowing full well that I will never seriously try
to complete it the way it should be completed,
and by adding it, bumped over a hundred people
down one spot in the registry.

I'm thinking about deleting it but, before I do,
I would like to get some of the forum's take
on it.

Are any of you in sets that you aren't serious
about?? Do you feel guilty about it??

What say you??

If you never intend to complete it you might as well delete it and then you won't have to
bother asking "why?" over and over.
If you keep it, don't bother feeling guilty. Those actively working their sets
    will eventually climb over you.

Last I looked I'm in 25 Registry sets. I'm in the top 20 in 14 of them. Most of the rest I have no interest in seriously completing. However, I'm proud of the coins I do own, and am happy to show them off (with pictures), in the Registry. So, it kind of depends on what your motivation is.
  • I only have 2 sets, and I"m serious about both of them. I could start a bunch of
new sets, but I wouldn't be serious about them, so I don't do it.

If you aren't serious about it, delete it.
  • Im in one, that I was serious about, and still am, but havent bought a coin for it in over a year, and it will be impossible to take #1 because the only weighted coin in the series, is also the only 68-FS which is a pop one coin, and he has it, along with all of the other top pop coins... so unless a new, 68-FS coin is made of that exact date and mint mark, he will forever own the #1 set.

  • I'm in about 12 registry sets now, and have really lost interest in several. But the darn ultra-modern sets just won't end, and it doesn't seem to be a good time to sell the coins from some of them. So, I'm just kinda hanging in there until I can move out of them, and back into something more historical. Haven't decided what yet, though. It will hopefully be something where the pops are a little more stable. (Learned my lesson -- albeit expensive.)

I think I have coins in about 6 different sets. I do not care where I stand because there isn't really anything I can do about it anyway. I sure as heck can't go out and buy coins just to be at the top of every set I belong to. I would say, do whatevery you want. If it bothers someone that much, they are in the coin hobby for the wrong reason. Here are is my set info:

    My Sets:
    Total Sets: 6
    Sets with changes: 1
    Complete Sets: 2
    Incomplete Sets: 4
    Creatable Sets: 59

Mint Mint Products American Buffalo $50 Gold, Proof (2006-present) 100.00%
Mint Mint Products First Spouse $10 Gold, Circulation Strikes (2007-2015) 50.00%

    Thanks for the input, guys!!

I will go ahead and delete the other set, mainly because
I feel bad about bumping all those other people, who ARE
serious about their sets, down a notch.
