    I sometimes wonder what William and Leonard Wyon thought as they engraved several images of a youthful, attractive Victoria from the 1840's and into 1870's, all the time knowing what she really looked like at that time.image Leonard finally starting making her looking her age around the 1870's and 1880's. Probably after her husband, Prince Albert, died in 1861 she didn't particularly care.

    I just picked up a J.S & A.B. Wyon medal from 1866 that I believe is one of Victoria's best. It is similar to the one that I am trying to sell on the BST. I'll try and get it posted this weekimage

    OT: Another Queen Victoria factoid: The hemophilia that plagued the various Royal families of Europe/Russia originated with her. Just think, if Princess Charlotte (only off spring of George IV) hadn't died with childbirth (along with the stillborn Prince) then Victoria wouldn't have been the Queen and the history of Europe, Russia and the rest might have been a tad altered from what we see today.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but it refers to the 'Godless Florin' I'm assuming as no Dei Gratia (by the Grace of God) is on it. Sort of like our 'In God We Trust' and the uproar when it goes missing.

    The first Victoria Florin was circulated in 1849 and it is known as the
    "Godless" florin because it is missing the words "DEI GRATIA" (For The Grace
    Of God).
