Did someone really get an ms68fb 05-d business strike dime graded?

Oh my gosh. And 7 more ms67fb's!? I just bought an ms67fb as pop 2/0. I have had the absolute worst luck with coins this summer. Everything I buy, the pop goes up. Everything I sell, later sells in auction for much more.

2005-D MS68FB on eBay

1) Even though the names might be the same, the seller is not me. If I owned the coin, I sure wouldn't sell it.
2) Those of you you know, do you think that coin is true BS and not a SF?
3) What do you guess will be the utlimate price (assuming it hits the reserve)?

That sucks. I feel for you on that. I was tempted to pick one of those up myself but didn't. So it is just luck that you got it before me. Personally I don't think that these will drop much with a pop 9/1. Maybe if it goes to 20/1 then the 67's might fall a bit.

I've thought about the timing of these coins hitting as they have.
My guess is this...
Business strikes have NOT been bringing much on eBay or TT. But only one low pop, like the 05-D 67FB 2/0 or 06-P 67FB 1/0 I sold you had come up for sale. That was Nicks 05-D on eBay, which he listed twice I think.
Anyway, My guess is this Mark guy read/saw where Nick and I sold the three coins at a fair price. After seeing that prices were now favorable, decided the timing for sending the coins in "was" good. And now about a month+/-, they come out of PCGS. Just about the right amount of time to send/get back modern submissions.
I don't know the guy, but I'd love to get to know his MS 68FB.
As to why I'm putting this in a thread and not IM'ing it to you. Because I think there are other people that would have an interest in whats going on in top pop business strike coins, even if it is only about the Roosevelt dime. You can never have to much information in the coin world.
As to why I feel it went down something like this. Had I or Paul not needed these low pops, I would have taken this very path. I would not bother to submit coins that take so much work to find, yet not bring enough when sold to make the work worth while.
As for the question on the 68FB, the pictures are no where good enough to tell if it's MS/SF. But I'm still trusting PCGS, and would buy it in a heartbeat if the price does not go insane. A lot of rolls still unsearched from the 05/06/07 years. If this coin were 10/15 years old, my guess would be between $1400-$1800. At this time, and depending how bad someone wanted it, $1000-$1400. With the price dropping about $150/$200 for each 68FB coin that follows. Prices on 68FB's tend to also drop as the 67FB pop below it grows, and as we know, this one just grew from 2 to 9. Nuff said.

Thanks for the coin by the way. It just appeared in the mail and my mouth fell open. A very nice gesture on your behalf...THANK YOU!
I totally agree with what Dan60 says in his above post except for this:
<< <i>Prices on 68FB's tend to also drop as the 67FB pop below it grows >>
I would have to say that if this coin went 5 years and was the only MS68FB and below it was 100's of 7FB's, it would be worth alot more than $1K. I think prices for Roosies are STAGGERINGLY low compared to other series. If this was just the only MS68 Kennedy Half, Nickel, or Lincoln that was made for the years 2005-2007, it would be worth several thousands. Like Dan60 said...Does anyone really understand the difficulty there is in aquiring high grade examples of these dimes. The absolute slightest tick, rub, anything and the coin is instantly a 7 or lower. PLUS the fact that you have to scratch, beg, cry and whine, just to get the coins in Original Bank Wrapped Rolls. The mint doesn't sell them, and none of the banks in my town sells them. Its horrible.
I'm in my 6th box of 2007-D's, only because they are so plentiful for this year, and still have not made a MS68FB.

He's down to $199 with none sold and no buyers in sight for 7 of them.
The 68FB sold for $675

<< <i>My first roosie >>
compromonedas congrats on the 05-D.
I would have given you a run for it, but I'm saving for a bigger fish.
I think the timing was wrong, making all those 67FB's and the 68FB all at one time. This made some people wonder if more are to come.
Well that and the school of big fish that are coming.

<< <i>Yes, congrats Compro. Much cheaper than your pop 1 Lincoln there! $675 is very reasonable. I don't think I would have paid much more than that even if I had the money. I could feel like I lost $200+ on my 67fb but it's not lost, it's just in Dan's hands now, and he's a nice guy. >>
yes it is cheaper, but you have to remember that the collectors base for lincoln is much higher. I believe the prices of the roosies will start to go up in the near future.
