Wyoming Quarter Errors List?
 Small.jpg)
Hi.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there list of the all of the Wyoming Quarter Errors found so far?
A friend of mine who is a coin dealer in FL. said he was told that so far 7 different types of errors have been found on the P-Mint Quarters.
I've found 2 different ones so far. I'm told that one of them is a "Strike Through" error (see pics below). The other I don't know what it is, but I'm pretty sure it's another type of striking error.

I have all kinds of coins, tokens and a few medals. I'm not a big time Stack's Auction collector. I don't collect for investment or value. When I see a coin I think is neat, I grab it. I collect a few coins by year and mint, like Lincoln and Canadian Cents, Westward Journey Nickels, State Quarters, Presidential Dollars and 2 or 3 others. I have some Proof Sets and Uncirculated Sets. I've been collecting for 34 years, so I have a little bit of everything.

I wish I could get a good picture of the 2nd one I found. I want to know what type of error it is.
It's on both sides of the coin. It's like a circle around the outer most part of the coin. Because of it, nearly all the lettering is "blurred" for lack of a better word. Where it says "United States of America" You can sort of make out the word "United." "America" is a total blotch. If you didn't already know that it says America, you wouldn't be able to tell. "Quarter Dollar" is really bad. On the obverse, the 7 in "2007" is almost gone. As well as the designer's initials and other lettering. And the entire coin had an odd look to it. Almost a heavy, dull thick look.

I should say so! Better than 3/4 of the coins out of the bag from the P mint look like those in your photo. Extremely disappointing....could have been a beautiful sillouette if more care had been used. The Denver mint 'appears' to have done a better strike.

Can this dealer give you(us)more info?
Maybe I missed something
Here are the pics. Please tell me what you think.

Well he was told this by another person. And he asked me to send him a list of the errors if I found one.
Have a look at this Ebay link.

There is a reason that I rarely visit Ebay...looks like I paid a premium price for that P mint bag.
Until Coneca confirms a new error, frankly I don't pay much attention to the Ebay listings. Maybe I'm making a mistake there but it sure saves me a lot of time.

What do you make of the 2nd Quarter I have pictured? What type of error would you call it?

<< <i>I am sorry, I am NOT going to call that 1/2 a quarter anything but 'rejected' although most would call it a strike through, as I previously mentioned. Didn't I also mention that I have a bagful(that is 1000 quarters)of them? >>
You were referring to the first set of pictures I posted. That one I know is a Strike Through. The 2nd set of pictures I posted, that coin isn't even close to the 1st one. Also, since posting this, I've emailed the pics to 2 different Dealers I know. They both say that it is a "Double Strike" error.

No, I wasn't.

They are both wrong.
You maybe should focus instead on finding a Wyoming Quarter that will grade MS67 or better because they will be far harder to find than these examples of nothing more(in my opinion)than a poor strike. Even if they are considered an error by some, they are more than abundant. Have a nice day!
The Denver minted coins have been generally higher quality, but they too seem to be increasing in the % of poorly struck, struck through grease, etc, examples. I agree that searching for MS67 (or even 66 coins at this point!) would be time better spent.
Has anybody else noted the die crack on the Philly SHQs' obverse - it runs from the lower left corner of G.W.'s portrait toward the 'U' in 'quarter' - I have noticed that same mark on nearly every issue since 2005....are they just keeping those obverse dies hanging on for one more year?

Well from the order of the posts in this topic, you said the below after the 1st set of pics I posted and before the 2nd set.
And I have already found several very nice grade Wyomings. P & D both. I plan on having 2 of them (so far) professionally graded.
Have a nice day.

Please show us your photos when you get the results back. PCGS pops aren't up yet on the Wyoming issue, so they could be grading a lot better than those that I've sent in.
I had very poor luck trying to take quality photos of the 2 errors (as well as others in the past) so once I get them back, I'm taking them, as well as a large number of my other nicer coins, to a friend of mine that has a setup that is designed for taking close up, sharp photos of coins, stamps, gems, jewelry and other small, detailed items.
The 2007 UNC. Mint Set is supposed to be released today. How do you think they will turn out as far as the possibility of Wyoming errors?
