Confused: Why am I getting MORE FS's?

Hoo, boy...my own thread!!! I'm kinda nervous...

Anyway, I JUST received a TJ First Spouse UNC, and the Proof is "Reserved and in Stock!!!" What the heckter?

Sorry I've created yet another FS and/or if I'm repeating others' observations, but I was pretty shocked to have a package show up with the UNC in it...makes me wonder if sales aren't as strong as is felt or reported? My order was placed @ 6:10 pm on the 30th...way after what I'd heard was the cut off...

Tomohawk, WELCOME! Don't do mondern gold from the mint, so can't respond to your question.
Glad you are on board and I'm sure you'll get good responses soon!

if you have not noticed by now.. i will give you a tip.

flipping moderns was profitable the last years.. now very few
talk about it because they do not wish to be embarrassed.

coin prices are going down for most everything.. people are getting
    stuck with franklin mint crap.

bigtime stuck with it since they bought the darn coins with plastic
around them thinking they are somehow different then directly from
    the mint.

don't you see the scam yet? think beanie babies man.
    how embarrassing.
  • Welcome to the board!

It appears that a lot of would-be flippers are realizing that they can't turn around and sell their coin for a 1000% profit overnight and are canceling/returning their orders

Maybe the unc will be the lower mintage if a lot of flipers send them back that will be good, Good post. image

    Hoard the keys.
  • As of yesterday, the mint was still advertising the Unc. on their home page.

The Mint is accepting orders, but if you already placed one don't bother getting a second. They cancelled my second order.

As for a lower mintage, the limit is up to 20,000, I don't think they will sell less than that, even if it takes all year.

On the bright side, the Silver Anniv. set was on sale for months, with buying limits, and they have done quite well after they sold out. A large dispersment is positive for future values.

Welcome. First Spouse coins future still remains to be determined. Read the threads hear and learn to interpret the responses. For example, I can't remember the last time fc had something positive to say. --Jerry

    Hi, Everyone.

Thanks for the excellent responses so far...of course, looking for even more and will keep checking in.

I will confess to wanting to be a somewhat flipper, but really sunk my $$ into the 2007-W for that, was buying the FS's for my first foray into gold. I kinda thought it was new, and unique (at least from what I'd read to that point), and yes, of course I was hoping it would be worth something to give to my 2 year old daughter when she turns 16 or something (don't want to invest in something that will go south!).

And to top it off, I was in China on business (ho, boy! That migh stir up a thing or two) on Aug 30, so I was madly trying to get an order accepted during the mad rush...and let's just say China's infrastructure is nothing like what we have. I had major time delays trying to get on to the Mint's website. Anyway, I had given up, then came back about 6 hours later and was successful in placing an order for both Proof and Unc, but thought I'd missed out.

One note: I didn't really get the Franklin Mint comment...I did purchase direct from the US Mint. Quite frankly (no pun, sorry) I don't really like purchasing any precious metal from anyone but the US Mint. Feels a bit safer, for some reason.
