Krause Question

Just wondering if Krause ever released their catalogs on DVD for the 2004 edition as the follow just doesn't seem legit ...

    *chuckle*

That's even a worse presentation than the Russian bootleg DVD of the 4 Krause catalogs (which is actually a better value than this one). The Russian DVD includes the 1601-1700, 1701-1800, 1801-1900, and 1901-2000 catalogs, all being the 2006 editions (basically 1 edition back on the 1600 and 1800 books and 2 back on the 1901-2000 editions).
  • This DVD seems like a....oh, whats the phrase....BOOTLEG COPY!
Here is the sellers negative feedback

From seller's terms: "IF YOU AGREE TO BID bear in mind THAT IT IS AN UNAVOIDABLE AGREEMENT AND THAT YOU HAVE TO EXPIRE."

Yeah ... I don't want to expire, just yet... image
  • ...AND THAT YOU HAVE TO EXPIRE.

With wording like that I knew it was a bootleg ... tho' I did think it was at least good for something even if it is a bad joke.

At least I did manage a gently used 2004 Krause 1901 - Present (2003) off of eBay for a nominal fee. Figured if I went with something of that particular vintage it would provide a good base reference for what I am interested in as so far I have been toying around with mostly pre 1950s European pieces that manage to catch my fancy. Now I need to figure out if I should try to find a gently used or like new copy of the 1801 to 1900 copy of the same vintage as I am thinking about going after some late 19th century German coinage. Won't have to worry so much about British coining as I periodically get a new copy of Spink's catalog even tho' their prices seem to be a bit on the high side most of the time when it comes to items that I am looking at.

Steve, if you're just looking for a handy reference the editions 1996 and prior had 1800+ all in one book. I still use my 1993 for quick reference. Surprisingly, not all of the prices have changed that drastically.

Meiji, if you can read Russian there are several sites and message boards online where they are available for free (but illegal) download. (Nice icon btw image )
