2007 Fantasy Baseball Final Standings (and Prizes)

Here are the final standings fo the stepchild league, PSA Can O' Corn.

Rugby's Marines 110 roto points
Bat in the Next (djspann) 83.5
Tomahawk Chops (bigfische) 83.0
Mikey's Meatballs (MikeyLikesIt) 81.5
Fried Gold (jlbsquared) 73.5
Squaty's Squad (i think this is Munson15) 71.5
Fandango 62
Cobra Kai (i think this is Chippy) 57.5
Miami Hardballs (ArnyVee) 54
Cole's Bears 47.5
Bearkat21 43
ChrisC 13

Great year. It was a lot of fun. Thanks Mike, for being the commish. That's not always easy.

The prizes were as follows:

1st place: 4 cards
2nd: 3 cards
3rd: 2 cards

That means the following people need to contribute a $25 card:

MikeyLikesIt
jlbsquared
Munson15
fandango
Chippy
ArnyVee
colebear
Bearkat21
ChrisC

I guess it would be easier to post here what card you'll be contributing. Then the prize winners can choose from the cards.

Just trying to get this rolling, guys.

Regards,

Ian

p.s. I sent an email through yahoo in case someone doesn't regularly read these boards. Srry if you do, and it's redundant. Cobra Kai (Chippy, I think) has his Yahoo account so it cannot be emailed through the league.

EDITED

Here is what each owner is contributing.

Munson15 - selection of cards or $25 PayPal
fandango - 1963 Topps #576 Johnny Temple PSA 8 (been outbid on this card half a dozen times)
ArnyVee - selection of card or $25 PayPal
colebear - $25 PayPal
Bearkat21 - will buy something for a winner off eBay
ChrisC - nice selection of football cards or $25 PayPal
MIkeyLIkesIt - ??
jlbsquared - ??
Chippy - ??

Well I took it up the ass this year. I just never could get anything going with my team. As for my offering, I'm going to have to go the "gift card" route. I have recently moved, and most of my stuff is in storage. I only have my high end stuff with me. I was going to do the ebay thing and just buy a card to chip in, but decided I'll just leave it up to the winner. SO here is my offering. Find a card in the $25 range on ebay and send me the link and I'll make the purchase and send it along. I hate to do it this way, but I won't be returing to my storage until Thanksgiving or Christmas. I hope this is OK.

    Congrats to the winners.

I only moved about 45 minutes away, but my storage is about two hours away and I don't have a free weekend for a while.

Can we get an idea of what the Top 3 collect so that I can look around for something appropriate?

If not, then I can go the 'gift card' or 'PayPal' route as well for the $25 valued prize. image

    I need the following 1969 topps football - 26-piccolo, 35 kapp, 139 butkus, 215 starr, 232 blanda, 242 barber.
I also just started 1951 bowman football, i only have about 8 cards so any would work.
Also collect bob feller and eddie mathews, along with Atlanta braves (chipper, smoltz, hudson, mcaann, francoeur) gu/autpgraphs/rookies.
Pretty much and star card form the 50s or 60s from baseball or football would be ok as well.

I added a list on the first post of what everyone has contributed so far.

    fandango,

Thanks for the Temple PSA 8. As for the others, I'm leaning toward that 1978 Payton PSA 8. I think I'll wait and see what else pops up before deciding.

    That sounds good. Thanks.

ChrisC, I'll take the 1978 Payton PSA 8. PM sent.

colebear, $25 PayPal to semper_fie at hotmail.com sounds fine.

Looks like everyone might not show. 6 people have already responded here.

Here's is what it looks like so far.

    Rugby's Marines
    1. 1963 Topps #576 Temple PSA 8 (fandango)
    2. 1978 Topps Walter Payton PSA 8 (ChrisC)
    3. $25 PayPal (colebear)

djspann (hasn't shown up on this thread yet)
    1. prize from Munson
    2. prize from Bearkat21

    bigfische
    1. 1969 Bart Starr (ArnyVee)

    The other 3 guys

    If more people show up here on this thread, we'll add the prizes from the bottom up. (i.e. 6 prizes = 3/2/1, 7 prizes = 3/2/2, 8 = 3/3/2, 9 prizes = 4/3/2)

    Regards,

    Ian

  • I can do the paypal transfer or I'll put up a list of a few cards Tuesday morning.

BTW - any of the guys that were in it know whats going on with PSA League Season II?
  • rugbymarinerugbymarine Posts: 421 ✭✭✭✭
Season II ?? Is that the other baseball league or is that one of the footbal leagues ??
  • Well, crap. That's what I get for not reading these boards in a few months. Glad to see the prizes are getting squared away so disregard the email I just sent to the league. I can send $25 paypal or a 1972 Topps Catfish Hunter PSA 8.
  • rugbymarinerugbymarine Posts: 421 ✭✭✭✭
No problem, Mike. Just trying to centralize it so everyone wasn't looking all over for the info.

Since we now have 7 'prizes,' things now look like:

    Rugby's Marines
    1. 1963 Topps #576 Temple PSA 8 (fandango)
    2. 1978 Topps Walter Payton PSA 8 (ChrisC)
    3. $25 PayPal (colebear)

djspann (hasn't shown up on this thread yet)
    1. prize from Munson, Bearkat21, jlbsquared, or MikeyLikesIt
    2. prize from Munson, Bearkat21, jlbsquared, or MikeyLikesIt
    3. prize from Munson, Bearkat21, jlbsquared, or MikeyLikesIt

    bigfische
    1. 1969 Bart Starr (ArnyVee)
    2. prize from Munson, Bearkat21, jlbsquared, or MikeyLikesIt

We're still waiting on Chippy or whoever was the manager of the Cobra Kai team and djspann (one of the winners).

Anyone have any other way to contact these guys ?? Other than email, posts, and PMs.

    Ian

  • Hi Everyone.

Sorry that I haven't responded to this thread yet -- I was on vacation until today, and wasn't logging onto the forums during that time. I'll review this thread, square up my eBay happenings, and get back either later tonight or in the morning.

I enjoyed playing in this league this year -- I was more excited to be playing for cards than I was in another league that was for cash...

    Doug
  • Here are my interests. (Edited to fix link)

I collect mostly vintage football, but also grab a baseball card here and there. Here's a link to my PSA sets in progress -- anything I'm missing on these lists would be great. There should be some in the $25 range, especially from the 1948-1952 football sets. (I had to link one set -- I couldn't figure out how to link to my list of sets, but there's a link on the page to my other sets.)
    Link to my sets

I probably want the Catfish Hunter card, depending on what others post. I would also have no problem finding some eBay auctions.

Really, I would be happy with any interesting baseball cards, even if I don't collect the set. Older is generally more interesting to me, but I know much less about baseball history than modern baseball...

For other football card interests not in my PSA sets, I am a Vikings fan, so anything Vikings would be good. I also like Johnny Unitas, George Blanda, Len Dawson, Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, and Walter Payton, but I have very few of their cards.

    djspann,

No Problem. Good to see you get a say in your prizes. I've picked 3 already, so the Catfish Hunter card is yours. I guess you and Mikey can work that out with PMs.

Here is the updated prize list:

    Rugby's Marines
    1. 1963 Topps #576 Temple PSA 8 (fandango)
    2. 1978 Topps Walter Payton PSA 8 (ChrisC)
    3. $25 PayPal (colebear)

djspann (hasn't shown up on this thread yet)
    1. 1972 Topps Catfish Hunter PSA 8 (mikeyLikesIt)
    2. prize from Munson, Bearkat21, or jlbsquared
    3. prize from Munson, Bearkat21, or jlbsquared

    bigfische
    1. 1969 Bart Starr (ArnyVee)
    2. prize from Munson, Bearkat21, or jlbsquared

Also, if Cobra Kai has decided to run off, I think you should get one of my prizes, Ian, so that you'll end up with 4.

    Ian
  • ETA - payment sent to djspann ( Thanks for the kind wishes Doug). Hope we can do it again next year

PSA League Season II was another baseball league on these boards - I thought, from the original thread (still over on the sports talk boards) that it was going to be the same thing prize wise... I think Colebear won if I'm not mistaken...

  • I'll be getting my remaining prizes from ArnyVee and jlbsquared.
