I reported this coin yest., buts its still on EBAY?
Does EBAY generally need more than one person to report? Or, is there some processing time involved?
Fake?

I've e-mailed eBay before about fake coins and many times they have responded with, "We can't be certain, blah blah blah" and just let it go.
Buyer beware.

Appearance and mintmark. Especially the mintmark, it does not look right to me at all. But I am not a Morgan expert.

No problem, lkrarecoins. EBay doesn't tell you the protocol, I just happened to realize this after reporting many, many bogus coins to eBay! Good work!

But the bottom line is, they don't have the staff to always get to everything that gets reported. And if they contact the lister and he says, "Nope, I'm sure it's real" that slows them down even more.

<< <i>That raises a good question. How does Ebay determine if the complaint is legit or not? In some cases, it may be obvious. But in others, it may seem like one word against another. Do they have any coin experts on staff? (Doubtful). Or do they have to contact experts to "vet" the coin and determine if the complaint has merit? If so, that could take at least a day or two. >>
When I report a fake coin I make it clear that I believe it is fake and I have the opinions expert collectors and dealers very familiar with the series who believe it is fake. But you're right, it comes down to your word against the sellers so the more airtight you can make it for the layman ebay trust and safety guy, the easier it is for them to end it. --jerry

It is a Chinese counterfeit, and the seller has withdrawn it. Give him the benefit of the doubt for not knowing it was bad before, and listening to what people said.
When reporting something like this, be very specific. On this one I would have said "Typical Chinese counterfeit. This mint mark style not used after 1880" or something like that. I have a very good report/kill ratio.
