Cleaning dirty or darkly toned coins

Before giving them a harsh acidic bath (dip), try soaking them in a strong detergent.
You'd be surprised what an overnight soaking in "Mr Clean" can do.
I've used it to remove dark toning, while leaving "splashes" of color that were hiding underneath.

And, it doesn't hurt the coin's surfaces. image

I've done it plenty of times. It removed dirt and brown/black toning , leaving the coins brighter.

And, all the coins now reside in PCGS holders! image

You are so clever! Coming on here, advising people to clean their coins with Mr Clean, claiming they will get their coins slabbed if they do so, and then using it all as a pretext to slander me and my coins! Such an intelligent little man.

So, we'll just assume that since you didn't answer the "are you lying" question, that you are, right? That's real helpful for the new collectors here. Stay classy, quattro.

Do you have any pics of your mr. clean coins? I'm interested in your results, only because I haven't heard of that method before. Personally, I don't clean anything, but do have a small number of morgans that need a quick dip. And duffydaddy has some seriously overpriced coins.... image

First of all, I advised people to use this method before they ruined their coins with a harsh, acidic dip.

Second, I'm not lying about doing the same and having the coins graded by PCGS, as you implied I am. If you think I slandered you and your coins, read what you stated about me! you're the class act, pharmer, AND the seller of overpriced crap! image

Thanks. And I never bring them up here, the only time they're mentioned is by others, like here, to denigrate. For the umpteenth time, I use eBay as a gallery, and when I decide to let one go, I start all my auctions at 99c, for 7 days.

So to deflect attention from his Mr Clean/pcgs slabs them claims, quattro has accused me of being a pharmacist, of getting my coins slabbed by pcgs, and charging too much. Oh the shame.

Back to you, quattro me boy-o. Prove it, dude. Ya screered, little man? Let's see em, like Myqqy asked you.

How sad! I love darkly toned coins! They are so totally choice an original to me! Cleaned coins are so ugly! So tampered with and messed with! Oh my God are they ugly!

Used sparingly and carefully, MS-70 can effectively lighten dark toning in some cases, resulting in a more attractive coin that is still slabbable.

Be careful, though, I once ruined a Sesqui when I got too aggressive with the MS-70 and impaired the luster.

What you're missing is a sense of humor (obviously) and the fact that this thread is about him and his claims, no matter how hard you try to divert it to me. Give it up. Get him to answer your question. You do recall your question, don't you?

Yes, your question to him about his claims led inevitably to your gratuitous slam about my coins. Of course it did, makes perfect sense. In your little obsessed worldimage
