Trade dollar sell on Ebay?

I bought a batch of coins from a reputable dealer(not Chinese) a few months back and it included a 1875-CC Trade Dollar. I end up selling it on Ebay in mid-July and listed as coin weighs properly, looks authentic by my reference books, and gave a standard 10 day return policy in the same 2x2 stapled flip holder. The person recieved the coin and even left a nice positive feedback and so did I. Exactly 45 days later this person emails pretty much angry that I sold him a fake Trade Dollar and demanded his money back. I checked his feedbacks before I emailed and sure enough he purposely bought both real and fake Trade dollars. My email reply was " It has been more than 45 days since purchase and I see that you bought fake trade dollars on purpose and I can not accept the return", thinking he might bait and switch. His return emails was that he sent the coin to ICG and basicly threatened me legaly and turned it over to PayPal. I finally told him to return the coin and I will refund the amount if it is the same coin. Sure enough it was the same coin and was in the ICG body bag as questionable authenticity. Of course I refunded his money. Still looks authentic to me! Now my question guys "What would you have done at first before you agreed to accept his return?"

<< <i>I would have accepted the return because authenticity trumps any stated return period. That said, I keep detailed images of everything I sell, so I'd be sure to scrutinize them to be sure there was no switch before I issued a refund. >>
Airplanenut said it best. This is the way I handle my transactions.

I have also been scammed by a buyer the same way a couple of years ago. If you agree that you accept his return, and he recieves a returned postal receipt, PayPal gave the buyer credit for the transaction. It was not the same coin I sold that person. It wasn't even the same denomation. Maybe I was a little gun shy on this one. By the way cool picture of the tail fin. I have flown on El Al to Israel and back. Thats the only way to go!
