3-D is the variety, matching Newman's obverse 3 with his reverse D. It's a scarce but not rare variety.

The 3-D is, however, one of only two varieties with the "Club Rays" type obverse, which is worth a premium over a similarly graded Pointed Rays.

The "K" stands for Kessler, who is a now-forgotten fellow who composed a book on Fugios in the 1970s which used Newman's numbering system. Most people would represent the same variety as N. 3-D or Newman 3-D, since Newman was the one who originally conceived these varieties and first described them.

The variety is one of many arbiters of a Fugio cent's value. On a N. 1-CC, a VF-30 would be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars!
