The Long Beach show- an interesting thing while at the show..

this past Friday. I wandered around with a friend who has a bunch of old casino chips that he wanted a value figure on, well while he was hunting for opinions and such, I went 'visiting' some of our fellow boardies.

and I had a few items to do my favorite thing- GUESS WHAT THEY GRADED IT AT. A visit to Mr. Brandon Kelly was enjoyable and quite interesting in his ability to grade. The youngster is good (he IS much younger than I).
Well I had 7 coins in NGC holders, one being a 1956 Washie in a 6 holder( he thought a 5- I'm bending on a 5.5) as well as a few others that are part of a birth year set.

Lo and behold we wrap up the BS session- he has a customer to contend with and I wanted to go 'fishin'- I leave his table telling him I may stop back later, I also left behind the damn Washie- Not even realizing that I did not put it back in my little satchel.

I meet up with Fred- he looks at the 76 washie error- YEPPERS- it is an error- struck thru and still in the mint package.

Sold 1 coin for the heck of it- but did not find one coin that I wanted!

Get home, put the bag down on the table and leave it there til morning, wife sez clean up yer crap before brekky, I start to put the kids back in their respective places- NO 56!!!!!!!!!

I begin to hunt everywhere in the house- I tear the house from one side to the other- yellin at the dogs and cats- thinkin they got into my stuff and messed with my head- nothing
go to my truck and tear it apart- call my chip buddy to see if he may have had it- NOTHING- I'm beside myself over a friggin coin. Imagine

Well the weekend is shot in the ass, I decide that I left it somewhere and someone walked off with it. I get a PM today, from Brandon....

I left it on his table ( I now feel both elated and yet like a fool) he will be mailing it back to me.

What do I send this guy for this?
leave money out of the equation- he has plenty to play with.

Give me some good ideas folks- this is one person that I would most likely trust with my grandchilren.

Thanks, and the show- seemed mediocre too many friggin Morgans, not enough Modern stuff.

Wow, I can't believe you left a coin behind. Good thing you were with an honest dealer.

If you go to coins shows often and see Brandon, bring him some food and drink while he is working at a show as a thank you. As a dealer, it is really hard to get away to get lunch some days.

Brandon is a cool guy, and always is nice to the YN's and let them look at the "cool stuff".

Maybe a nice present for him to give to his Mrs???

Umm- I think I personally would PASS on this item, that style of tone just leaves me........

and the grade seems a tad high, maybe a MS -( minus) 66 would be close to correct. From a 100 pt scale that would make it a bad xf45- less the actual NBC alteration.

I think this place is the beginning of a major THANKS to this gentleman- odds are I'm gonna be forced to buy one of his widgets to make up for my stupidity and careless act.

coin mailed on 10/1 from Texas- arrived at my house on 10/2 @ 9:00 a.m.- nobody home-

NOW if I EVER here or see bad crap from any boardie about Anaconda or Brandon or even Adrian

I will personally come to YOUR house and issue a stern but physical warning to only talk highly of this group.

I can not recall ever being treated so nice by 1 person.

If he has something I want- I will go to Brandon for advice and purchases.

Thank you Brandon and Anaconda- you are the best.

Easy, some fresh fish assuming you caught some or ship him a duplicate of your best lure and teach him to catch his own.

I know you have some secrets on how to catch the big uns.

Good story...ya gotta appreciate honesty like that!

Oh...and you have to watch those cats...my dog never messes with my coins, it is always my wife's cats. In fact I have a couple of coins that looked cleaned but I know for a fact (well almost a fact 'cause I have never really seen the cats mess with any coins however I am 96.5% sure they do b) them cats are doing something as the pictures from the auctions on eBay did not show any scratches but when the coins arrived (my wife opens the packages) and I got home to inspect them there were scratches on them. Cat scratches. Yep, gotta watch those cats.

    Have a great evening!

I concur. Brandon is one of the good guys. He does not push the coins that are for sale.

My only beef with Brandon is that he did not literally hit me on the head to make me buy the third so called dollar medal in guilded gold for my set!!!

    Ooooh, was I dumb!

My only consolation is that we all do that.

Wow. I really appreciate the positive posts. Yes, the first thing I noticed when I looked over where morganhunter2 was standing was a Washington Quarter with a big strip of blue tape over the obverse label sitting between the cases. I threw it in our back case and kept an eye out for him for the rest of the show but didn't see him again so I dropped him a PM when I got back home. I'm really sorry I couldn't get it to you sooner or at least PM you at the show that I had it so that you didn't have the added stress of thinking you lost it. Anyway, I'm glad it's all good and don't worry about getting anything for me. Anyone else would have done the same.

Now back to work taking pics of the REVERSES of the slabs for eBay. GRRR!
